In Automation production technology the actions performed by an automated process and these actions are performed by the program of instructions . And these program of instructions are performed during a work cycle. To execute work cycle programs, an automated system should be available to execute these advanced functions.following functions are includes in Advanced automation functions: 1. safety monitoring 2. maintenance and repair diagnostics 3. error detection and recovery Safety Monitoring There is a need of workers in automated system , for the safety of workers safety monitoring is needed. In safety monitoring various step can take place like complete stopping the system, sounding an alarm, reducing the operating speed. Usually sensors , limiting switches, temperature sensors, heat and smoke detectors, pressure sensitive floor pads. Maintenance and Repair Diagnostics

There are three modes of operations which are used in a maintenance and repair diagnostics,Status monitoring, Failure diagnostics , Recommendation of repair procedure. Status monitoring mode displays the current system status. Failure diagnostics mode take place when a failure occurs. In recommendation of repair procedure it recommends to experts team to the repairing steps.

Error detection and Recovery In the error detection step the are used that are working in automated system to determine when a failure occurred. The possible errors can be divided into three categories Random errors, systematic errors , aberrations. While in the error recovery step overcome actions takes place for all the detected errors.
