A Source Code in Database (SCID) integrated development environment is an IDE such as IBM VisualAge Java where code is pre-parsed and stored in a database. This allows many productivity-enhancing shortcuts which were otherwise not possible.
A drawback of SCID systems is that code that cannot be parsed, such as code with syntax errors, cannot be imported into an SCID system without it becoming commented out.
