The iterative aspect (abbreviated ITER) is a grammatical aspect that expresses the repetition of an event.[1]

In Russian, reduplication may be used for iterative aspect:

  • брал да брал - (he was) taking and taking.
  • брал-брал да выбрал - (he was) taking and taking, and finally took all of it.

A modification of the frequentative may add iterative aspect:

  • ходить (to walk) → хаживатьпохаживать.
