John courtneidge (talk) 11:30, 27 September 2016 (UTC)
Hi Wikipedia Help friends
My Occupy London friends are keen that I reask permission to start a page on Co-operative Socialism. A thread in that regard can be found at:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:John_courtneidge
The term 'Co-operative Socialism' has both a history (eg in its usage by Robert Owen, by the Guana Co-operative Republic and now as a plan to develop the concept of both the Co-operative Commonwealth and the Co-operative Commonweal.
Please reinstste the page so that I, we and others can devolop an account of both the history and present use of this term.
Thanks, inand for co-operatio - and thus equality,m equity and peace

- It appears that you have repeatedly created a draft on Draft:Cooperative Socialism, and that you then don't work on it, and it is repeatedly deleted after 6 months. At this point the administrators whom you are asking to restore your draft may be skeptical of you saying that you really plan to finish it this time. Why not just start it over from your own notes in 2016? Robert McClenon (talk) 17:42, 27 September 2016 (UTC)

I need to know exactly what I need to do in order for this article to be accepted. How do I get 'reliable sources' for an autobiography? Jean Jackson has written the article and I'm the one publishing it. All her books have been published by the National Library of New Zealand and we have cited it as a reference. What else should I do?
Thanks,

Hello Wikipedia Help Desk,
I may have a conflict of interest with the article 'Michael B. Bracken.' However, I believe it is a general conflict of interest. I work at the Yale School of Public Health, a non-profit organization of higher learning. How and where can I declare the COI?
Best,

- Thank you for respecting our COI policy, LENK2121. I have added a note to Talk:Michael B. Bracken stating that you are a connected contributor, which should be sufficient. Please take care if you intend to edit this article: unless you are making a clearly uncontroversial edit (like reverting vandalism), it is best that you ask other editors to make changes on your behalf using the article's talk page. I need to find out why my article about a basketball player is getting declined. The reviewer said that i need some reliable sources, even though i had added them
Jonas96313 (talk) 10:47, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
- Jonas96313 I'm afraid an interview of the subject and a Youtube video are nowhere near compliance with the standards for independent and reliable sources. Please read the guidelines at those two linked pages and also the Referencing for beginners guide. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 11:07, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
So you are telling me if that player played for more than 10 clubs during his career, I need to go and find all the articles from those teams, to prove that he played for them? It is not a big problem, but i have never seen a wiki article about a basketball player where in the reference section there would be more than 5 references — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jonas96313 (talk • contribs) 12:37, 28 September 2016 (UTC)

13:49:13, 28 September 2016 review of submission by Vincent L Gilbert
- Vincent L Gilbert (talk · contribs) (TB)
Looking for clarification on why the page Vincent_L_Gilbert (Username Vincent L Gilbert) was declined. The reviewer suggested reviewing the "What Wikipedia is not" section which I have. I did notice that an advisement given to another user stated "Wait for someone else to create the article", I am assuming this is the reason. If this is the case, I am confused, the article here Wikipedia:An_article_about_yourself_isn't_necessarily_a_good_thing begins "Are you planning to write an article about yourself? Before you proceed" which is a strong indicator that the practice is allowed, of course lower down it does state "No auto biographies"...thus the confusion. I followed the COI policy very carefully, my page is factual and not biased. Certainly I am not the most notable musician to have been involved in the 80's metal explosion, but I am one of the few keyboardists, I am mentioned in multiple books recently published as well as films, and several of the people I am playing with at this time have Wikipedia pages. At one time I toured with what was at that time one of the biggest bands on the world. There is no self promotion, it is really simply a history. My page was annotated, far more than existing pages of individuals I know personally. So is it a matter of content editing, or am I not allowed to start a page?
Thanks in advance!

00:56:24, 29 September 2016 review of submission by Solodev
Why is this being rejected? We are a legitimate US based software company that is selling unique software and have mentions across many various websites. We have had a page for a while and it was deleted last month due to not updating. We have added new references so why this happening? We are the first US based company to be listed on the Federal GSA contract and we are one of a few US companies Sold by Amazon. This page is very important to us. Please tell me what is wrong with it?
- @Solodev: It appears the article was rejected for the following:
"This submission's references do not adequately show the subject's notability. Wikipedia requires significant coverage about the subject in reliable sources that are independent of the subject—see the guidelines on the notability of organizations and companies and the golden rule. Please improve the submission's referencing (see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners), so that the information is verifiable, and there is clear evidence of why the subject is notable and worthy of inclusion in an encyclopedia. If additional reliable sources cannot be found for the subject, then it may not be suitable for Wikipedia at this time."
In addition, you are writing an article about yourself, something that is frowned upon on Wikipedia. Please see WP:NPOV for information. If you have any other questions, please use{{ping|NotTheFakeJTP}}to contact me here or add a message to my talk page. JTP (talk • contribs) 01:04, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
- Not sure I am replying properly, but the issue is we have had this page for well over a year and someone decided to delete it. Most of our references are from independent 3rd party sources. They are not from our website and they are written by other people other than ourselves. We are getting involved now to get our page back up. We are looking for help and not just quotes from WP. This is not pay to play and we deserve to have a page. Being the only US company to be on the GSA contract for selling CMS software is very notable. We are listed by the authority on CMS systems here: https://www.cmscritic.com/wordpress-joomla-and-drupal-are-not-the-best-cms/ At the bottom of the page as an enterprise CMS. There are so many other CMS systems listed on WP with less relevant links. Please help.
Also, please note this page which references our company: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Central_Florida_Board_of_Trustees. Seems like if other important pages reference our page we should have a page. Does this help? Solodev (talk) 02:34, 29 September 2016 (UTC)

There are no references to independent published sources which support both the truth of the assertions and the fact that this person meets the criteria for inclusion. - Hello Ifelsetech. Unfortunately, I have had to remove all of the text from this draft because you had copied it verbatim from the official website of the organization. This is a copyright violation and is strictly forbidden here. Please read my comments at Draft talk:ESRO for further guidance. If you attempt to rewrite the draft in your own words, you must demonstrate that it meets our criteria for inclusion for organizations. Basically, it must have multiple references to published sources which are entirely independent of the subject. Before attempting to work on this draft again please read carefully and thoroughly:

I was told my article is missing reliable sources. I mention three external game databases which are very reliable and have a high reputation, so I don't know what other sources I should use? - Then you should try looking for old reviews, large libraries have magazine collections going back decades. Video game or computing magazines from 1985 should be available somewhere. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 18:02, 29 September 2016 (UTC)

- 65.96.163.254 (talk · contribs) (TB)
The rejection read:
"This fails to explain why this company is notable. And the only reference provided is the organization's website. Please review WP:ORG for further guidance. As this organization was just created today, please do not resubmit it"
Addressing these concerns:
- Notability: This is an organization formed by five of the largest companies in the world, almost always fierce competitors, to jointly advise their cutting-edge R&D in their core business. If you do a google search on this day-old organization (I don't think it's a company, as per the notability rejection) there are hundreds if not thousands of results already ([[1]]). I doubt one can find any major news outlet which has not covered this organization already.
- "As this organization was just created today": I had the impression that Wikipedia covered current events and strove to be timely. Is that not the case?
- "please do not resubmit it": does this suggest that there is no change which would make the article worthy? Just go away?
I came to Wikipedia to look up that article to learn whatever I could about this stunning new consortium and was quite surprised to find there was no article. It was clear that there will eventually be one, and instead of just waiting for someone else to do it, or putting a note somewhere asking for someone else to write an article, I thought I would help get that started and put down what little I knew, creating a place for others to add what they knew. If that's not the way Wikipedia works, I can certainly obey "please do not resubmit it" and leave it for someone else to do; I have confidence that at some point an article will be written on this, so it's the same eventual outcome either way.
65.96.163.254 (talk) 16:49, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
- You seem to be correct. If you want to resubmit, I will approve per WP:NEXIST. 18,000+ news stories published in <24 hours should more than suffice. TimothyJosephWood 16:59, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
- Correct yes, but not for the reasons you think. Wikipedia is not actually interested in "current events and strove to be timely", that's what WikiNews does - see WP:NOTNEWS. When submitting a draft for review at AFC it really helps to actually cite at least few of the many instances of news coverage. Citing only the subject's own website is what spammers do. Thanks for the new article. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 19:43, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
19:35:28, 29 September 2016 review of submission by Spward028
I am wanting to revise this page to get it published. It was noted the sources were not reliable; however, I do not know what is required in order to make this more reliable than it already is. Data on these competitions are recorded through ROTC pages across various university news sites. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
- Hi Spward028, the problem is actually more about the lack of Independent sources rather than the reliability of the sources you have used. The Notability standard is that people who have no interest or connection to the subject have written about it in significant detail so that a reasonable article could be wrotten using only such sources. The universities are the hosts of the ROTC system, thus the university news publications are not independent. Similarly, publications by any part of the Department of Defense are also not independent. You need to find mainstream news media or magazine/e-zine articles about the Ranger Challenge competition. 00:47:17, 30 September 2016 review of submission by Pentuin
I'd like to propose a disambiguation page for the term "Torsa", but I don't know how to make one (or if it is appropriate - if the problem could be solved another way, that's fine too). I recently created the page "TransOral Robotic Surgery," and when this surgery is used to treat sleep apnea, it is commonly referred to as "TORSA." For that reason, I would like a search of "TORSA" or "torsa" or "Torsa" to direct the user to the TransOral Robotic Surgery article. The problem is, there's already an existing article titled "Torsa," about a completely different topic. (Additionally, there is an article titled "Torsa River," and there is not currently a disambiguation page for these two similarly-titled articles). So, it seems to me that the best solution would be a disambiguation page, reached by a search of "torsa" or "Torsa" (I think it makes sense for "TORSA" to go directly to the surgery article, and "Torsa river" or "Torsa River" to go directly to the article about the river), that contains links to all three articles. However, I do not have the knowledge/skills to create the disambiguation page. Thank you for your help!

Re: COI notice. Thank you, Robert McClenon, for your prompt response. I misunderstood a previous editor's encouragement to improve the article: "You may like to take a look at the grading scheme to see how you can improve the article" (acceptance notice from Anne Delong, 9.13.16).
I now understand that further editing is off-limits, and will honor that. Would you kindly remove the tag on my behalf? Thank you! Klkraft (talk) 17:28, 2 October 2016 (UTC)
Klkraft (talk) 17:28, 2 October 2016 (UTC)
- No. I won't remove the tag only because you requested that I remove it. I will only remove it if another editor agrees that it is neutral. Your request illustrates the problems with COI editing. You want a perfect Wikipedia article about yourself, and you can't get it, because that is COI and causes the article to be tagged as COI, and you can't just request that I remove the tag. Go to the article talk page and discuss. Robert McClenon (talk) 02:47, 3 October 2016 (UTC)

I'm really confused by Wikipedia and creating our page. The entire process make zero sense. None of what we wrote is included in the article. Can someone please help?
Warstic (talk) 17:17, 3 October 2016 (UTC)
- Wikipedia does not exist to provide you with a medium to advertise your company, which is clearly what you are here for. The reviewer has done you a large service by leaving a stub of your article. It would have qualified for speedy deletion as unambiguous advertising, except that they stubbed it for you rather than tagging it for deletion. Do not use the first person plural pronoun "we" to refer to an account. Wikipedia has a policy of "one account, one person". Robert McClenon (talk) 17:36, 3 October 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Warstic, I left these comments on your user page also:
- The draft for Warstic was not acceptable for wikipedia because it was not neutrally written.
- But the company is very likely notable, based on the references found so far, so I started the draft again
- please read WP:COI, and declare your connection to the company before you edit anymore
- please request a new username, as your current username is not acceptable
- Thanks. -- 1Wiki8........................... (talk) 17:21, 3 October 2016 (UTC)
