System Security Services Daemon
Appearance
The System Security Services Daemon (SSSD) is a software package originally developed for the Linux Operating System that provides a set of daemons to manage access to remote directories and authentication mechanisms[1]. The beginnings of SSSD lie in an open source project named FreeIPA (Identity, Policy and Audit)[2]. The purpose of SSSD is to simplify system administration respecting authenticated and authorised user access involving multiple distinct hosts[3]. It is a project intended to provide Single Sign-on capability to *nix networks similar in effect to the service provided to MicroSoft Windows Active Directory users.
