Shafaqna
Shafaqna (Persian: شفقنا) International Shia News Association or Shia News Agency has experienced its fastest growth since 2015, when it upgraded its services to include Shia Studies and analyses in coordination with the Shafaqna Institute of Middle Eastern Studies.[1] One of the most prestigious Shia news-gathering organisations alongside ABNA, and Muslim Press, Shafaqna's news coverage while comprehensive, puts the emphasis on Shia Islam, interfaith relations and AhlulBayt teachings.
Shafaqna was founded in February 2012. Since then it has seen its reach and demographic increased exponentially, offering its news services in five languages: English, Persian, Arabic, Turkish and Urdu.
While each of Shafaqna pages and news websites are somewhat run independently to cater to each demographic, the body of its work follows the same editorial rules: integrity, fair coverage, and tolerance.
Shafaqna's Arabic material is produced out of Najaf, the Persian page is run from Tehran, the Turkish page from Istanbul, and the English page from London..[2][3][4]
Shafaqna has also launched several independent pages: Pakistan, India, Lebanon, Bahrain, Iraq to respond to its readers' demand and offer its readers a different news focus
Insofar Shafaqna has worked to offer the Shia Muslim community a platform upon which to feature its social and religious endeavours, including all interfaith efforts. A well-recognised source Shafaqna has seen its content republished and quoted by several renown news outlets and media organisations, among which the Huffington Post, MintPress, The American Herald Tribune, RT International, ABNA and countless others.
The fastest growing Shia News Association in the United Kingdom, Shafaqna English[5] has worked to represent the interests of Shia Muslims across the world – offering fair and balanced coverage on those issues which affect us most of all.
Because Shafaqna absolutely believes in promoting tolerance, multiculturalism, and interfaith cooperation, it has made a point at featuring and reaching out to other religious communities. Shafaqna's approach is honest, transparent and sincere.
Beyond its regular news coverage, Shafaqna has worked to develop a series of exciting media projects – mini-documentaries, exclusive interviews, in-depth reports, analyses and scholarly essay on Shia Islam.
"In all we do we will endeavour to follow in the teachings of the Prophet (PBUH), Ali and his family (PBUT). We will commit to the truth, we will remain devoted to spreading the words of the righteous, and defend those who remain committed to defend our values.
In time such as ours when Islam has been misrepresented, vilified, and redacted by an ignorant elite, Shafaqna ambitions to open a true window onto the teaching of Shia Islam, the history of Shia Islam, and the rich culture which has derived from such enlightenment," reads its editorial statement.
In June 2014 Shafaqna launched a news reader called: The Newhub (International News Reader).[6] Shafaqna Newhub (International News Reader) originated as an Internet-based news aggregater so the text which appears on Newhub is made up of a list of items and contents presented in RSS feeds offered by news gathering organisations and websites.[7] It operates in different languages mainly: English, Arabic, Persian, Spanish, French, Urdu, Dutch, and Chinese. Newhub categorized news into "Last News", "Featured", and "Most popular.
Newhub covers most countries and news stories. Newhub content originally come from a range of global and national news agencies, newspapers, and local web based news media -- AP, AFP, EFE, and Reuters to CNN, BBC, CCTV, Kyodo, Xinhua, PRESS TV, IRIB, SPA, Itar-tass, etc.[8]
