Some Wikipedians have formed a project to assist users with referencing. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians. If you would like to help, please inquire on the talk page.

For more information on WikiProjects, please see Wikipedia:WikiProjects and Wikipedia:WikiProject best practices.

Project goals

The main scope of this Wikiproject is:

Assist users in meeting verifiability standards by using references.

It consists of:

  1. Educating users on the use of ref tags and cite templates
  2. Organising helping hands for those unfamiliar with ref tags and cite templates

How to help

There are two aspects of the WikiProject that you can help with.

Referencing help

Not everyone is familiar with the ref tags and cite templates, so some references in articles may need a little attention to bring them up to standard. We will soon estabish /Requests for referencing help for the purpose of organising requests. If you see an article where a user is trying to add references but needs a little help, feel free to list it there. If you yourself would like some referencing help, just add another section there as you would for any other user.

Citation collections

There are many commonly referenced works on Wikipedia. This aspect of the project aims to establish collections of citation data for such works so that they can be easily referenced through subst'ing a template. Please see /Cite collections and the relevant talk page.

Participants

All wikipedians with at least one edit (which cannot be adding their name to this list) can participate.
