The Pin Index Safety System is used commonly for pnuematic connections between a gas cylinder and a machine that uses pressurized gases, i.e. an anesthesia machine. This system is used to ensure that cylinders are not connected to the wrong gas yoke.

Each gas cylinder has a pin configuration fits its respective gas yoke
