The following tags should be placed atop the articles or sections to which they refer.

{{splitunrelated}} category links talk edit	Place this at the top of an article for which a split into two or more new articles is proposed, and where they are distinct enough that a disambiguation page is not appropriate.
{{splitsection}} category links talk edit	Place this at the top of one or more sections for which a split into a new article is proposed.
{{splitsection}} category links talk edit	Optionally, you may include a suggested title for the new article as a parameter.
{{splitsections}} category links talk edit	Place this at the top of an article for which a split of multiple sections into a new article is proposed. If possible, instead use {{splitsection}} or {{splitsection|new title}} in each of the sections that should be split into the new article.
{{merge}} category links talk edit	Place this at the top of both articles or sections that are to be merged. Use the other item's name as the parameter. A link will be generated automatically. If it is known which article or section is to receive the merged material, use the tags {{mergeto|dest item}} and {{mergefrom|source item}} (or one of the sectional variants) instead.
{{merge-multiple}} category links talk edit	If the proposed source is an entire article, place this at the top of the article or section that is to receive the merged materials. Place a similar tag {{mergefrom-multiple|s1|s2|s3}} at the top of the source articles or sections. This template is for proposing the merger of from 1 up to 20 articles into a single page. It formats a proper list of links. Ideally, a "discuss" parameter should be specified to direct the discussion to another page.
{{mergeto}} category links talk edit	Place this at the top of the article or section that is to have its content transferred to another page. If the proposed source is an entire article, place the tag {{mergefrom|source article}} at the top of the article or section that is to receive the merged material. If the proposed source is one specific section of article, place the tag {{mergesection|source article|source section}} at the top of the article or section that is to receive the merged material. If proposing that multiple sections of a single article (but not the entire article) be merged into another article, place the tag {{mergesections|source article}} at the top of the article or section that is to receive the merged material. Consider adding new material to the article or section that is the parameter of this tag (i.e. [[dest item]]), instead of the article or section that contains this template message. If it is not known which article or section is to receive the merged material, use the tag {{merge|other item}} instead.
