PIPEs are distinct enough in nature and a big enough market that they deserve their own listing, separate from "private placement."

PIPE: a category of its own

As a student in Finance I am compelled to agree with the former poster - that "PIPE" deserves to have its own slated and distinct definition. There is an entire chapter in my course text dedicated to PIPE's alone.
