Memory-scraping malware

Memory scrapping is a malware that attacks RAM inside POS(Point-Of-Sale) device to steal user personal information.[1] In 2011, SANS Institute declared Memory scrapping to be a most dangerous techniques to be in use. Though Data encryption is used to protect the personal information, Malware scrapping finds a key-hole from which data can be stealed.[2]Memory scrapping malware mainly targets track 1 and track2 data such as cardholder's name, card number, expiration date, pin number, etc. Not only retailers are exposed to the possibility of Attack through POS service, there have been other companies which are found to be targeted by memory scrapping technique said researcher Graham Cluley.[3]
