Unicode 9.0 Draft

Unicode 9.0 draft emoji should remain on the page, as WP:CRYSTALBALL allows for well documented future events. Most vendors have already implemented the new emoji, it's final enough that it can be added. As WP:CRYSTALBALL states: "Predictions, speculation, forecasts and theories stated by reliable, expert sources or recognized entities in a field may be included".

Having it be that Unicode 9.0 emojis are already being implemented, and that the release is set for less than 3 weeks from now, I think it's appropriate to have them included. Martin Van Ballin' (talk) 19:51, 2 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The Unicode templates should always reflect the current state of the Unicode Standard, and it is premature to update them until the new version of Unicode is released. There are 268 Unicode templates and an equivalent number of pages to maintain, and if people start randomly updating this or that template or page at some random time before Unicode 9.0 is released the situation becomes chaotic, and different pages end up giving conflicting information about what characters are in Unicode.
