Hello Internet is an audio podcast hosted by CGP Grey and Brady Haran.[1] It debuted in 2014 and currently has 63 episodes and 1 bonus episode.[2][3] The podcast peaked as the #1 iTunes podcast in the United Kingdom, United States, Germany, Canada, and Australia in February 2014[4] and was selected as one of Apple's best new podcasts of 2014.[5][6] The podcast is also known for coining the term "freebooting" as a more emotive word than "infringement" to describe the re-hosting of online content by entities separate from the creator of the content, done typically in order to make money from advertisements on the content.[7][8][9] Episodes usually last from 1.5 to 2 hours.[10]

Logo.[11]

Adoption of "CGP Grey the penguin"

At a charity auction at the Bristol Zoo, raising money for African penguin conservation, Brady had the opportunity to have a dinner at the Bristol Zoo with David Prowse, known for being the body of Darth Vader. Brady was able to organize an event where listeners of the podcast would get to watch the film Star Wars with Prowse, Grey, and himself. Tickets for the event were sold to the podcast's audience and the proceeds were donated to the fund. [15]

A penguin c hick (A20583) was born at the zoo on March 22, 2015, and was named "CGP Grey" by the zoo in thanks to the podcast for helping fundraise.[citation needed] The zoo also made Brady the official adopter of CGP Grey the penguin. Brady and Grey were presented with two certificates on the night of the event. The penguin was later found out to be female.[16]
