The (already long) entry for Android has little to do with basic research, a topic that may be addressed by android science. Yobmod and other contributors, what should be added to Android science to make it stand on its own merit (i.e., make it unlikely for deletion or redirection)? What prompted the previous redirects? --156.56.194.130 (talk) 19:05, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I concur with the above editor. There are a number of reasons why there should be a section on android science as distinct from android instead of having android science redirect to android. Note that the Wikipedia page on radiology does not redirect to x-ray, CT, MRI, etc. Android science is a distinct field, just as radiology is. The subject of study is not the instrument used in experiments (i.e., the android) but human beings. This is also true for radiology. Radiology uses x-rays, just as android science uses androids, but it does not concern x-ray machines. Android science uses androids to study human interaction. Radiology uses equipment to study human physiology and to diagnose abnormal conditions.
The page on androids does not address android science at all. Its main focus is on the fictional portrayal of androids. There is very little on actual androids.
The reason being that specific androids have their own pages, there should be a page List of Androids which I will create.
This article is about the scientific field directly relating to androids. AS such, and indeed if fulfilling notability, it should remain. One thing to remember is that is probably going to be an expanding field of research. Chaosdruid (talk) 03:35, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
