Major Edits Planned

I am planning on making major edits to this page, during the month of May in 2016. The general idea will be to organize the existing content a bit better, and then expand the article substantially. I would welcome any suggestions for new sections, or any questions that people would like to be answered. Here is a (very) rough outline of the proposed changes:

  • Small changes to the history section
  • Section on how trajectory optimization relates to parameter optimization
  • Add a better overview of numerical methods used for trajectory optimization
  • Add description of each type of method, as well as pointers to papers on the topic.
  • List of trajectory optimization terminology, links to other articles where appropriate.
  • Create a section on common numerical problems, giving common problems that people run into, and several solutions to these problems.
  • Give several more example problems.
  • Update list of trajectory optimization packages
