This article is written more like an opinion piece than an encyclopedia article, and it has been for a very long time ([the essay-like tag has been there for over seven years https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Open_API&type=revision&diff=171695905&oldid=171647750]). An "Open API" isn't really a standalone topic; it's just a Web 2.0 buzzword about making APIs public. I would suggest this article be merged into Open data, but I don't think there's any content here that could be merged without having to be substantially revised or rewritten due to the unencyclopedic tone.
