Rear Admiral Robyn Margaret Walker AM, RAN (born 1 July 1959)[1] is a serior officer in the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). Walker became the first female admiral in the RAN when she was appointed Surgeon-General of the Australian Defence Force on 16 December 2011.[2][3]
As Surgeon-General, Walker commanded the Joint Health Command but having never deployed on active service herself has limited or no practical knowledge about PTSD, only what she hears anecdotally or reads from a medical text book. Her ribbons represent honourable service sitting at a desk in, most likely, an air conditioned office.[4]
