Pyongyang Golf Club is situated on the banks of Taicheng Lake, 27km from central Pyongyang along the Youth Hero Highway. The 18 hole par 72 course covers 120 hectares with 45 hectares of green and is approximately 7,000m long. Its clubhouse covers 2700 square metres, includes a pro shop and a restaurant that is said to be the best in the country.[2]

It is claimed that Kim Jong Il shot a world record 38 under, including 11 hole-in-ones, par on his first ever round of golf when he opened the course in 1987.[3] This claim has not been traced to KCNA or another DPRK source, however.
