The Advanced Simulation and Computing Program (abbreviated as ASC) is a supercomputing initiative put in place by the US Department of Defense in order to simulate, test, and maintain the United States nuclear stockpile. The initiative was started in XXXXXXX by XXXXX in response to the United States' ban of live testing due to environmental and budget reasons.
