Human Interface Guidelines, or HIG, are documents that attempt to unify a user interface by enumerating specific policies. These policies typically attempt to be user-friendly and intuitive. Policy decisions are often based on studies of human-computer interaction.

Examples of HIGs include Apple's HIG as well as GNOME's HIG.
