Haskell-class attack transport
Appearance
Haskell Class Attack Transports were a World War II derivative of the VC2-S-AP5 Victory ship design.
The VC2-S-AP5 design was intended for the movement of over 1,000 troops and their equipment. They included landing craft to deliver the troops to shore.
The Haskell class ships were armed with 1x 5" cannon, 12x 40mm guns, and 10x 20mm guns.
List of Haskell class attack transports
Haskell class attack transports included APA-117, USS Haskell, the lead ship through APA-247, the never completed USS Mecklenburg.
Fate
As of the 2006-07-31 MARAD inventory, there are only two Haskell class ships left in the inventory, both at James River Reserve Fleet:
- USS Gage (APA-168)
- USS Sherburne (APA-205), which was converted to USS Range Sentinel (AGM-22).
