CAMEL Application Part (CAP) is based on Intelligent Network (IN) capability sets with enhancements specific to mobile domain. The CAP protocol sits at the same level as INAP in the SS7 protocol suite.
The Initial Detection Point (IDP) message in CAP is an expanded version of the IDP message in INAP. It adds mobility related elements e.g. the IMSI of the calling party and the address (ID) of the MSC.
