In the United States Marine Corps, the Logistics Combat Element (LCE), formerly combat service support element, is the portion of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force responsible with providing logistical support. It provides equipment and personnel to keep the MAGTF running logistically.
The LCE provides all support functions not organic to the ground combat element and aviation combat element units. At the tactical-level logistics functions emcompass all of the logistic support activities need to be performed at the tactical level of war, to include combat service support. These functions are normallally categorized in six functional areas: supply, maintenance, Transportation, General Engineering, Health Services, and "Services" (to include: Administration, Financial Management, Communications, Messing, Legal Services Support, and Band).
