09:00:20, 17 May 2015 review of submission by Ksandhu
Hi! I am very new to creating and editing on Wikipedia. My first attempt is writing an article outlining the biography of a Dutch Director / Filmmaker using my sandbox ksandhu. It has been submitted for review. Please advise how I ensure this article is placed in the right category?
I would like to submit another article, how do i set up a new draft article to send for review? Appreciate your help. Thank you in advance.
Ksandhu (talk) 09:00, 17 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Ksandhu: I've moved your article to the draft space at Draft:Harold Monfils, which frees your sandbox for another draft article. (You'll see a redirect to Draft:Harold Monfils in your sandbox, but you can delete that redirect and start writing a new draft.) Alternatively, you can start a new draft by using the Article Wizard. A reviewer will be along in the next weeks to assess your article, so you needn't place the article in any categories. /wia /talk 12:12, 17 May 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for accepting my article. I'm wondering if it appears yet in public searches on wikipedia or if there are other steps i have to take to ensure that happens? Also is there any way I can edit the title to simply remove the comma?
thanks for your time

Hello,
I recently submitted an article about Roger Machado (Martial Artist). He is a notable martial artist, one of the 5 Machado brothers (Machado family on wiki) who are renowned pioneers of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Every other Machado brother has a wiki page except Roger (please see Carlos Machado, Rigan Machado, Jean Jacques Machado, and John Machado). The article included 4-5 relevant citations as well as links to his iMDB page. Are there any additional citations needed for approval? please offer guidance
thanks in advance,
8eyes (talk) 19:48, 17 May 2015 (UTC)
- @8eyes: The draft at User:8eyes/sandbox was declined because it is a duplicate of Draft:Roger Machado, both of which had been submitted. The Draft:Roger Machado will be reviewed in the coming weeks, so stay tuned! /wia /talk 19:51, 17 May 2015 (UTC)

Hi there, My name is Adrian Kraus and I wrote the article Generator Hostels on wikipedia. As you may realize, it is the second time I've got it "not accepted", and I was wondering if you could share with me some further detail for this? Thank you
Adrian Kraus (talk) 09:03, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
- It's not really clear what further details you need. The Draft is currently written exactly like an advertisement. Wikipedia is not an advertising brochure, it is an encyclopedia. The company should write about "a new concept in hospitality for discerning travellers" on its own website... such breathless promotionalism has no place here. I have created company's information only for the persons who want to know more about the company "WorldWide Immigration Consultancy Services Private Limited". It is group of companies which recruits lots of employees in their different companies. It will help for the customers also to know about the company and its services.
So please let me know the updates required to get it approved in Wikipedia.
Mranujkaushal (talk) 09:08, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Mranujkaushal: Once you have dealt with the copyright issue mentioned on the draft page, the next step is to clean up some of the text so it is less promotional in tone. Avoid buzzwords and buzzphrases like "WWICS pioneered the concept of immigration to Canada". (Also, people were immigrating to Canada long before WWICS came onto the scene, so claiming that they "pioneered" immigration to Canada is factually suspect.) I also don't think it's worth listing every single member of the board of directors directory-style with a biography blurb. You may want to use a Good Article like Japan Airlines to help you as you work on formatting, language and style. /wia /talk 00:35, 19 May 2015 (UTC)

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Draft:Indian_Sign_Language&redirect=no I have submitted the article in Wikipedia on “Indian Sign Language” about one month ago. The article has been declined on the ground of its earlier existence in Wikipedia under the title “Indo-Pak Sign language”. Indo-Pak Sign Language in itself is not a sign language but a term given by Ulrike Zeshan (2000) while studying the sign language varieties in the two cities i.e. Karachi and New Delhi. The findings of the study indicate that the sign language varieties are same in two cities across the border. However, the existence of Indian Sign Language (ISL) and Pakistan Sign Language (PSL) cannot be denied on the ground of terminology given to the sign language varieties used by the Deaf people in both the countries. Both sign languages have their own history and the journey of its development. The Indian Sign Language is the symbol of existence of Indian Deaf communities and their struggle for the recognition of their mother tongue which is ISL. The Deaf communities in India have started taking strides to raise their voices for their rights including the official recognition of ISL. It is the beginning of revolution initiated by the Deaf Leaders and Deaf communities of India for the recognition of their native language which is ISL. So, it becomes very necessary to start with the new page under the title “Indian Sign Language” to create the awareness about ISL and to contribute Deaf Communities of India in their struggle for recognition of ISL. Kindly, request you to allow me to start a new page under the title “Indian Sign Language” to disseminate the issues and concerns as well as the historical development of Indian Sign Language. However, I am open to edit the article wherever needed as per your suggestions.

Hi
I need help understanding why my draft is not approved ! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Pierre_Badel_%28Trumpet%29 It says that the references don't show enough the notability of the musician. But if you look for example at this wikipedia page about a musician (trumpet player as well) Allen Vizzutti (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allen_Vizzutti) I don't see any references that shows his notability but it is approved! So help me understand! Thank you very Much! my user name: 82.235.27.249 (talk) 15:30, 18 May 2015 (UTC)Sob23
82.235.27.249 (talk) 15:30, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
- @82.235.27.249: Wikipedia is monitored by volunteers, so some bad articles tend to slip through the cracks. If we let these bad articles be the standard by which all future articles are judged, the quality of articles would quickly decline. Therefore, the "What about this other article?" argument doesn't carry much weight here. Instead, try comparing your article to articles which have been ranked as Good musician articles or Featured musician articles. --Ahecht (TALK

19:55:08, 18 May 2015 review of submission by MsMalaprop
I need help adding art work to a biography. I did try reading through some help files on adding jpg and permissions, but have't been able to sort out the proper methodology. I think a more experienced editor would be able to better handle the issue.
Under "Roberto Esteban Chavez" I want to add an image of his work from the Smithsonian Collection. (http://americanart.si.edu/collections/search/artwork/?id=85555). The museum purchased the painting and used it for an exhibit catalog but I'm not sure where the copyright issue relates to a living artist in a museum collection. I also noticed the Smithsonian has an arrangement with Wikipedia/Wiki Commons, but don't want to upload an image unless that is permissible. Thank you.
MsMalaprop (talk) 19:55, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
- @MsMalaprop: The issue is that the painting still appears to be under Roberto Chavez's copyright (indicating that the copyright was renewed at some point) according the Smithsonian page. You could make a fair-use claim for posting that image if the painting itself were the subject of sourced critical commentary in the article, but simply showing the image as an example of the artist's work wouldn't qualify. --Ahecht (TALK

Hello! I was hoping that someone would be willing to have a look over this article and give me some feedback before I resubmit it. The article was declined for not meeting notability guidelines, which I hope I have remedied by beefing up the citations, most of which are from media sources. (I think there were only about a dozen citations when I originally submitted the article, whereas now there are 22).
Are local and regional media sources the best types of citations to substantiate a subject's notability? Or would academic sources be better? The organization in my article has also appeared in some studies.
Any advice you have would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Reshoring - bringing manufacturing back to the US is important to the US economy. It will help us rebuild the middle class, bring jobs back to the US and it is the right thing to do. I am looking for advise on how to fix my article. Here is the message I was sent: "Sources are needed to show that "Reshoring" is an established term, and not just a neologism. Also, there should by no external links in the body of the article."
Where would I find the sources you need? I added the external links to help establish was I was saying is true. Can you provide me advise on how to get this approved.
Thanks!!
Dhobson828 (talk) 03:22, 20 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Dhobson828: I think we could accomodate a general article on reshoring (there is currently a small section in offshoring), so I am passing your submission - but it still needs a lot of work.
- The easiest way is to type "reshoring" into Google and click on "News". That should give you plenty of sources - the first one I happened to find was this article in Forbes talking about the increase of reshoring in the US. However, a problem with your article is that it does not cover a worldwide view. Let's take the first sentence - "The act of bringing manufacturing back to America." Playing devil's advocate, I might claim that Uruguay, Chile and Venezuela are all "in America" (I know you mean the United States of America but not everyone will!) Meanwhile, here is a news piece in The Insurance Times reporting a company reshoring call centres back to the UK from abroad as a unique selling point. So there are plenty of other places where reshoring is happening, and they should also be included. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 10:09, 20 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Ritchie333:Thanks so much for your assistance! You are correct, since I originally wrote this article we have been working with universities in Europe and their reshoring efforts. I will keep enhancing this article based on your feedback!

13:30:18, 21 May 2015 review of submission by Miccpao
The article was not accepted for reasons of copyright material. I'm a public affairs officer for the Department of the Army for the general and we're the owners and release authority for his biography. Government biographies are not copyright. The reference it cites on Military City USA appears there because the general appeared on the radio program, and my office provided the radio station a copy of his bio for the appearance. I believe this article should be accepted as is.
Miccpao (talk) 13:30, 21 May 2015 (UTC)
- Perhaps you would do two things for us:
- Stop attempting the "Do you know who I AM?!?" approach. We know not neither do we care
- Link to the draft of which you speak.
- Combative approaches seldom succeed here because you are dealing wit volunteers whose approach is usually to volunteer not to handle the issue being dealt with on a combative manner. Deal unemotionally with facts alone, please. Help us to help you. Fiddle Faddle 13:43, 21 May 2015 (UTC)
- Note, also, the words "Copyright © 2015 Military City USA Radio. All Rights Reserved" on the page it appears that you copied and pasted here. That is more than somewhat explicit, isn't it?. Fiddle Faddle 13:47, 21 May 2015 (UTC)
I've got no idea as what you mean with regard to approach; nothing in the original question was combative. I'm merely attempting to create a page with bio data located at the reference I cited at the end, [1]. We provided it to the media as the release authority for the organization. We're still the owners of the document. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Miccpao (talk • contribs) 13:55, 21 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Miccpao: Wikipedia has absolutely no idea who you are, nor the history of the item that has a copyright claim written large upon it. Please read WIkipedia:Donating copyright material and deal with it in that manner.
- Recognise that, if someone perceives you as combative, that is how you have come across. The fault is not that of the person who has perceived you as combative. Fiddle Faddle 14:06, 21 May 2015 (UTC)
The draft to which I'm referring is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Brig._Gen._Jeffrey_A._Gabbert — Preceding unsigned comment added by Miccpao (talk • contribs) 16:35, 21 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Miccpao: The deletion log says "06:16, 21 May 2015 Tokyogirl79 (talk | contribs) deleted page Draft:Brig. Gen. Jeffrey A. Gabbert (G12: Unambiguous copyright infringement of http://www.militarycityusaradio.org/2014/06/21/brigadier-general-jeffrey-gabbert-airing-june-21/)" That page says "Copyright © 2015 Military City USA Radio. All Rights Reserved." which seems to everyone here to be cut and dried. If you licenced that for onward use it certainly does not show on that page. If it is out of/exempt from copyright then one would expect that page not to assert copyright ownership over it. You need to go through the process at WP:Donating copyright material.
- Even when you have been through that process, please be aware that we require references. For a living person we have a high standard of referencing. Every substantive fact you assert, especially one that is susceptible to potential challenge, requires a citation with a reference that is about them, and is independent of them, and is in WP:RS, and is significant coverage. Just copying and pasting that tranche of text is entirely insufficient. In addition it probably does not make a good Wikipedia article.
- The deleting admin is aware of this conversation and may choose to offer you further advice. Fiddle Faddle 16:50, 21 May 2015 (UTC)
- My recommendation would be to just write it in your own words from scratch. The problem with using copyrighted text is that in 99.9% of the time the material was written to promote the topic (in this case a person) and as such, will contain words and phrases that come across as promotional (at worst) and/or too casual (at best). It's sometimes harder to pick out with some, but a lot of time it's that the text will be laid out in a promotional style (like a resume/CV). The other issue with copyrights is that even if you give permission and the material is neutral to begin with, the article will always be negatively scrutinized because it contains material from the official source. I remember one instance where I had to help re-write an entire page because people kept tagging it as promotional and as copyvio. The material was pretty neutral and the material was given up as fair use, but people kept tagging it for various issues to point where it just became easier to re-write it entirely. This isn't even including the problem that using copyrighted, official text makes it come across like the person/company/etc was trying to use Wikipedia as their own personal billboard or Linkedin account. In other words, using copyrighted text makes the page look less legit and far less impressive than you'd think. It really is a bad idea in general to use copyrighted material. Plus like the others said, we have no way of verifying that you are who you say you are- this is why stolen valor is such an ongoing issue. I don't doubt that you are who you claim to be or that you were told to go and post things on Wikipedia, but you need to be able to verify this with the site, which can only be done by filing a ticket through WP:ORTS. However I do need to restate that using copyrighted text from an official bio isn't really the best route here. Also, since you do have a conflict of interest you will need to read over the policy at WP:COI. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 18:27, 21 May 2015 (UTC)

- Please Ignore previous Post from IP address, I didn't notice I wasn't logged in*
I wrote a post for LaptopMD+ IT service, and the post was denied apparently because an editor believed the sources didn't meet the notability guidelines. It's somewhat understandable, but at the same time the service has been mentioned in CNN, Wall Street Journal, Inc and Huffington Post. Additionally, it's been on the local news of WPIX and CBS, two major channels in the New York area.
The service has been lauded and respected enough to be used as an authority for major media outlets on nearly a dozen occasions. All of those sources are cited in the article. It's particularly puzzling because other New York IT services have been granted pages when they don't have the same citations as LaptopMD, and they're generally regarded as smaller services in New York.
Respectfully I ask, what better citations are there than the aforementioned notable outlets? How can I recalibrate the draft to make it acceptable?

I have 20 inline references in my article. I would like them to be sequentially numbered from 1 to 20 and all appear at the bottom of the article. Instead, the citations are showing up within the article, numbered 1- x, after each paragraph. In other words, the first paragraph has 2 references, numbered 1 and 2, which are listed right after the paragraph. Paragraph 2 has three references, numbered 1-3, which are listed after that paragraph, and so on.

Hi!
I've been working alot with updating the existing page of Roger Palmgren with the draft in my sandbox.
At first I made changes directly to that page, but got contacted by User:GiantSnowman telling me it did not appear constructive. Then again I got contacted by the same guy, telling me to cite my sources. Ofcourse I was going to, but I did everything step by step as I was new to wikipedia and didn't use the Sandbox which I should've, so I fully understand him.
However, now I've made (hopefully) all necessary citations and valid sourcing to my changes. Content-wise, it's actually correct and updated information now (the old version isn't just incomplete, it's misleading and incorrect). I've been working closely together with his wife (my sister) to get all the facts straight. Also, the photo is taken by her.
So now the article feels 100%, and I would like it to replace the existing Roger Palmgren page, which is outdated and incorrect. Now, I feel nervous about _how_ to do this? I'm sorry, but I'm kind of new to Wikipedia-editing. Can you guide me? Any help would be much appreciated!

I am requesting a re-review here as of the article above as the original editor Onel5969 is on a break - very understandable.
The original decline was due to notability - a valid decline. Therefore the new version has substantial additions in the area of other reliable articles that review the person's work, or contain biographical information. Nearly all of this person's published works are peer reviewed - either in the traditional double blind editorial review of journals or in the Encyclopedia aspect that the author was solicited by an academic editor due to notoriety in the field in which the article is eventually written, reviewed, edited and published. Many of his original writings are cited in subsequent publications - some of which are noted in the revised article.
Additionally, I removed a picture which was not properly cited and am working on getting a quality photo which can be substantiated.
This article will support and be linked to many articles in this subject area - and some of those need corrections and updating which I will work through after this article posts. In my research, I have kept track of a number of things - wikipedia and otherwise - that need a 'tweak'.
I am requesting a re-review here as of the article above, as the original editor Onel5969 is on a break - very understandable.
Thank you for your prompt consideration - I look forward to many more opportunities to participate in the Wikipedia Community. Thewizardsgirl (talk) 01:12, 22 May 2015 (UTC)Thewizardsgirl Thewizardsgirl (talk) 01:12, 22 May 2015 (UTC)

- @Systemupdate101: If the article is to be approved, it will need a lot more references demonstrating her notability. Wikipedia doesn't allow articles on subjects merely because of the existence of poseurs. Instead, subjects must be notable, and right now it does not seem as if Anne Lopez is notable because they have not received significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject. If you can find references meeting that criteria, please add them to the article. (You can read WP:REFB to learn more about how to reference on Wikipedia.) /wia /talk 12:32, 23 May 2015 (UTC)

- @CarrieMarie21: Hello, thanks for inquiring at the Help Desk! Consensus on Wikipedia is that it is acceptable to use a company logo for encyclopedic purposes. However, you should read carefully the rules at WP:LOGO before doing so. The tag you would need to include is mentioned on that page. As for the conflict of interest, if you look on the talk page for your draft, you will see that Timtrent has kindly added a {{connected contributor}} template so that future reviewers and readers will be aware of your connection to the company. I will mention also that conflict-of-interest editing is discouraged on Wikipedia. /wia /talk 02:08, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

Good morning Wikipedia,
My page is being denied due to copyright infringement. However, my page information is from shaylablack.com (who the article is about). The cited copyright infringement states that it was copyrighted from this page: http://www.kobobook.net/author/4022.html. Kobo Book actually has their information from the same source, with our permission. Another point to note, I wrote the shaylablack.com information and am in no way infringing on her copyrights. I realize that is not something you all could know.
To fix this, do I need to reword the biography information only? Is there anything else in what I submitted that needs to be changed to fit your criteria? Please let me know so I can make the changes as soon as possible.
Thank you so much, Miranda Kirkland
MirandaKirkland (talk) 12:42, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
- Shaylablack.com says "Copyright © 2015 Shayla Black". Since Wikipedia cannot legally use copyrighted text without an appropriate license, we cannot accept the text that appears there. If you wrote the information on shaylablack you could follow the instructions at WP:Donating copyrighted material to release it in such a way that Wikipedia can use it, however you still may run into issues. The problem is that official websites are designed for promotion, while Wikipedia is designed for education. Therefore, most text written for official websites is supposed to promote the subject of the website (in this case Shayla Black), and is therefore written in a tone that isn't acceptable on Wikipedia. You'd be much better off writing the page from scratch, using your own words, and maintaining a neutral point of view and encyclopedic tone. --Ahecht (TALK

My draft article on “Regression Therapy” was declined with a suggestion that it be included in an existing article on “Past Life Regression” for the following reasons;
“I'm sorry, but these two subjects still seem very similar to me. One is "a technique that uses hypnosis to recover what practitioners believe are memories of past lives or incarnations", while the other "uses a range of hypnotherapy and psychotherapy techniques but differs by putting more focus on regression and working with transpersonal experiences to transform them". I don't see any substantial difference in definition here, your post notwithstanding. The only difference seems to be the willingness of practitioners to treat memories as a metaphor.”
My response is;
Regression Therapy is a well established professional therapeutic approach drawing on many healing modularity’s; age regression, inner child regression, body therapy, transpersonal experiences, and if stories emerge from a client that appear to be past lives they are dealt with as healing metaphors.
Past Life Regression is a controversial subject with no professional standards and open to different religious and cultural views and as such the article is subject to changes and disputes. Not an area I wish to enter or I think Regression Therapy deserves to be parked in. It could be suggested that regression therapy could equally be added to articles on Inner Child Regression, Body Memories, Hypnosis or Age Regression.
So why a new article on Regression Therapy?
Well Regression Therapy has been developed over the last hundred years and has had a single international standard since 2006. It is practiced by medical doctors and psychiatrists, and hundreds of therapists around the world. I'm new to writing Wikipedia articles and have put in a great amount of effort to this point. Hence I cliked "Edit" button at the very top of Visa policy of Vietnam article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_policy_of_Vietnam). I edited and saved the change successfully, and the screen showed the articles with my additional information. However after I reload the link to make sure that I have edited successfully, my editing disappeared. Please explain my case and show me how can I edit the article of other authors. Will it take time for reviewing my editing? Becki.dang (talk) 03:35, 28 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Becki.dang: Your edit [2] was reverted shortly afterwards by Materialscientist with an edit summary of "unsourced personal opinion". I'm not surprised you were confused as you did appear to add a source in your edit, though not necessarily appropriate ones for that article. I've pinged Materialscientist so he can offer a fuller explanation here, but I think the revert is probably appropriate as your text documents what you think is the best way to get a visa for travelling in Vietnam, not what is the well-documented procedure for everybody. There's a similar problem with your draft, User:Becki.dang/sandbox/My great trip exploring the Northern Vietnam. I think that is unsuitable for Wikipedia and belongs on a blog somewhere. Please give me an example of a "notability" reference for a small county park - created as a result of a massive cut for a highway - used as a family oriented free scenic, recreational facility. I could write a personal essay about the park, but am finding it difficult to find what you need in print! Thank you.TCVCJ (talk) 13:37, 28 May 2015 (UTC) TCVCJ (talk) 13:37, 28 May 2015 (UTC)
