Wietske van Leeuwen (born Rotterdam, September 22, 1965) is a Dutch ceramist.[1]

Life and work

Van Leeuwen studied handicrafts and textile art at the teacher education, and ceramic design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam under Jan van der Vaart, and Henk Trumpie.

After graduation she started her own studio in Amsterdam, and received a number of grants from the Mondriaan Fonds, Dutch Foundation for Visual Arts. Her works are constructed in a baroque style, with shells and fruit are recurring motifs. Since 1997 she is also working as teacher ceramics and drawing at various courses.

Work of Van Leeuwen is in the collection of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam,[2] Gemeentemuseum Den Haag and Princessehof Ceramics Museum.
