Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, previously titled Mera Tera Rishta Purana[1] is an Indian soap opera on Star Plus. It began airing on 3 December 2013[2] and airs from Monday to Saturday evenings. It is produced by Ekta Kapoor of Balaji Telefilms.[3][4] It is partially based on Manju Kapur's novel Custody.[5]
It had been receiving the highest ratings of Indian serials in the UK until the end of March 2015 when Diya Aur Baati Hum reached 173,300 viewers compared to YHM 's 156,500.[6][7] The show is remade in Tamil language as Kalyanam Mudhal Kadhal Varai that airs on STAR Vijay,[8] Bengali language as Mon Niye Kachakachi that airs on STAR Jalsha.[9][10] The show is also aired daily in Mauritius on MBC Digital 4.It is also dubbed in Telugu as "Manasu Palike Mouna Geetam" & is telecasted from Monday to Friday at 5:30 p.m. in Maa . In Sri Lanka it dubbed in Sinhala as " Me Adarayai" & is telecasted form Moday to Friday 9.25p.m to 9.55 p.m on Sirasa TV.

Yeh Hai Mohabbatein follows the story of Raman and Ishita who are connected by their common love for Raman's little daughter Ruhi. Ishita is a Tamilian whereas Raman is a Punjabi Ishita, who is unable to bear children, shares a very close, motherly relationship with Ruhi, while filling the void of a child in her own. She is friendly, warm and caring while Raman is bitter and hard from the days of his divorce. During his daughter's custody case, he marries Ishita only for getting daughter Ruhi's custody. Raman and Ishita win Ruhi's custody. It is also revealed that Raman has a 11-year-old son, Aditya/Adi whose mind is poisoned against Raman by Shagun.[11]
The story progress to portray, Raman and Ishita's strengthing relationship as they begin to understand, respect and support each other. Raman's perception towards "wives" change as Ishita fulfils all the duties which Shagun fell short of. As fate would have it, Shagun and Ashok find new means to trouble Raman. Ishita, now the pillar strength of Raman, stands by him and the duo fight back. Shagun's brother Mihir hates Shagun after Raman and her divorce. Mihir and Ishita's cousin sister Mihika are engaged and are about to marry.Ashok leaves Shagun. Ashok marries Mihika by blackmailing her. Mihir starts hating Mihika. Shagun tries to create problems for Ishita in Bhalla house. Shagun has to leave Bhalla house. her plans fail. Mihir accepts to marry Raman's sister Rinky as Rinky and Nikhil's marriage is cancelled as Nikhil is already married to Amrita.
Now Raman and Ishita have custody of Adi while Ruhi is with Shagun because of Shagun's cheating. Raman has stopped paying for Shagun's expenses. So, she is using Ruhi as a source of income. She makes her work in advertisements. Mihika leaves Ashok's house and returns to Iyer house and tells real reason behind her marriage with Ashok to the family. Sujata Kumar, a social activist is helping Raman and Ishita to get Ruhi's custody. She is also helping Mihika against Ashok. Ishita's ex-fiance Subramanium/Subbu is Sujata's son-in-law. Because of Subbu's insistence Sujata is helping Ishita and Mihika. Both Adi and Ruhi are now living with Raman and Ishita. Finally,Raman and Ishita get Ruhi's custody. Shagun blames Ishita for instigating Adi against her.
Ishita's ex-fiance Subramanium/ Subbu makes a come back and Ishita gets jittery seeing him around her. Earlier Ishita assured Raman that Subbu was out of her system and he didn't affect her. But it was not the case as Ishita felt extreme hatred towards him and refused to meet him. Same Ishita once told Raman that hatred can only be reserved for loved ones. It was revealed that Subbu's wife and son are dead now and he wants Ishita's forgiveness. However, Ishita doesn't want to forgive him and said he was enjoying with his wife and son. Raman somehow manages Ishita to forgive Subbu. Ishita meets Subbu at his clinic. Subbu helps Ishita selecting Adi's bat. Raman's mother Santosh Kaur/Toshi Bhalla doesn't likes Subbu's visits to Bhalla house. Shagun instigates Raman's sister Simran/Simmi's husband Parmeet Khurana/Param against Simmy . Simmy decides to file divorce case aganist Param with Sujata's help. Param months ago had tried to molest Ishita, for which Raman had complained against him in police station. Simmy initaily supported Param but now has realized about his planning and plotting against Bhalla family.
Ashok tries to take advantage of this. Raman has taken over Ashok's company and Ashok's brother Suraj is also separated from his business. Ashok and Shagun join hands. Shagun tries to instiagte Rinky against Mihika. Everybody tries to get Mihir and Rinky closer. Shagun plans against Ishita. Subbu has developed bond with Simmi's daughter Ananya. Family talks about Subbu and Simmi's marriage. Subbu and Simmi at first hesitate but later agree. Param decides to help Shagun. Param signs on divorce papers. Param blackmails Ishita and demands 60 lakh rupees for divorcing Simmy. Ishita finds out about Param's fraud and complains in police. Param goes into jail. Mihika gets job in Raman's company. Param plans with Shagun about creating scene in Subbu and Simmy's marriage.
In the upcoming episodes, Raman will be desperate to consummate his marriage with Ishita but she will be reluctant and will try to foil Raman's plan as she is not comfortable to get close to Raman.But Raman will book a suite for Ishita and BATTLE SUPREMEwill happen !!!
