Devizes is a town in Wiltshire in the United Kingdom. It has a population of 11,117. Devizes is part of the Kennet district.
The town is situated on a hill, and is home to the Caen Hill flight of locks on the Kennet and Avon Canal, which raise the canal 130ft 8ins on its journey from Bath to Reading.
Each year at Easter there is a canoe race on the canal from Devizes to Westminster, a distance of 125 miles.
Devizes has a small cinema in its compact town centre. and is home to the Wadworth brewery, producer of the famous 6X real ale. The town is currently experiencing quite rapid housing growth, especially on its eastern fringe towards Andover.
