Plant Systematics and Evolution (PSE) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal covering the study of systematic botany and evolutionary biology. It is usually published biannually.[1] According to the Journal Citation Reports, the journal has a 2013 impact factor of 1.154.[2]

Publication hstory

Plant Systematics and Evolution was established in Vienna in 1851 under founding editor-in-chief Alexander Skofitz (1822-1892) as Österreichisches Botanisches Wochenblatt (Austrian Botanical Weekly).[3] In 1858 the publication was renamed Österreichische Botanische Zeitschrift (Austrian Journal of Botany) and continued under that title from volume 9 to 91. In 1943 and 1944, two volumes were published under the title Wiener Zeitschrift botanische (Viennese Botanical Journal).[4] It then continued under its previous title until 1973 when it was relaunched with a more international scope under its current title.[5]

Editors-in-chief

The current editors-in-chief are Marcus A. Koch (Centre fror Organismal Studies, Heidelberg and Director of Heidelberg Botanic Garden); Martin A. Lysak, (Masaryk University) and Karol Marhold (Slovak Academy of Sciences).[1][5]

Plant Systematics and Evolution is abstracted and indexed in Agricola, Biological Abstracts, CAB Abstracts, Chemical Abstracts Service, EMBiology, IBZ, Scopus, and Science Citation Index Expanded.[1]
