Two types of DIMMs (dual in-line memory modules): a 168-pin SDRAM module (top) and a 184-pin DDR SDRAM module (bottom).

A memory module, commonly called RAM, memory, or a RAM chip,[1] is a dynamic random access memory integrated circuit module mounted on a printed circuit board and designed for use in personal computers, workstations, and servers.

It Is used to refer to these specific types of memory modules:

Distinguishing characteristics of computer memory modules include voltage, capacity, speed (i.e., bit rate), and form factor.
