Multi-layer CCD

The term Multi-layer CCD has been used to describe a image CCD which captures true RGB. This was originally part of an April Fools joke press release from dpreview.com. However since the joke was originally released a remarkably similar device was invented. The Foveon X3 image sensor, which is multi-layered but is not a CCD.
