Quickflow (or quick-flow) is the portion of streamflow that comes from either surface runoff or interflow.
Watershed contribution to a stream is divided into two components primarily based on the rate at which the water is transported from the rain fall event to contributing to the water flowing in the stream. Baseflow is the steady contribution that generally provides the baseline discharge of a stream. The quickflow is the more rapid contribution that increases the discharge of a stream in reaction to a rain fall event. Quick flow is therefore of the most concern for those interested in flood protection.
