Simple username changes

This page hosts simple requests for a username change across the Wikimedia network. Requests are processed by stewards and global renamers.

Instructions
  1. Read Wikipedia:Changing username carefully. You must be aware of and understand all the implications of changing your username. Specifically:
    • Your name will be changed to the new one in the page history of every page you've edited, and in all log entries.
    • Your user pages, account preferences, and edits will be moved to the new name. Please do not create a new account or attempt to move them yourself.
    • Links left by your previous signatures will still point to the old userpage; however, a redirect will be created pointing to your new userpage.
    • Understand that using your real name as your username may put you at risk of harassment.
  2. Read the username policy and ensure your new name does not violate it. Usernames must not:
  3. Check that your new username is not already in use by searching for it on Special:CentralAuth. If the name is registered, even on another Wikimedia project, it is taken.
If the target name hasn't made any edits to any Wikimedia project, you may request usurpation at meta:Steward requests/Username changes.
  4. Log in with your current username. Requests will not be approved if the requester is not logged in.
  5. Place your request here.
    • Add your desired username after NEW=.
    • Add a reason for the change after REASON=. Requests without a valid reason will not be approved.
    • Do not change anything else.
  6. Select Publish changes.
  7. Check back on this page periodically to answer any inquiries regarding your request. Consider watching the page so you can monitor updates. Requests may be closed if there are unresolved queries.

Requests that do not follow these instructions or that are grossly malformed are subject to removal.

For stewards, global renamers, and clerks

Only stewards and global renamers have the authority to approve or decline requests. Requests are automatically clerked by a bot, but occasionally human intervention is required, particularly for malformed requests. If you would like to help out with clerking, please see Wikipedia:Changing username/Assistance.

Googlewoman → GoogleMan

I'm sure beaurocrats are not as ignorant as the people helping out at account creation but if you're hesitating because Google is a company, kindly remember that it is not "simply names of companies or groups". It is more like WidgetFan87 which is one of the permitted examples given. Besides in usual English slang, Googleman does not imply a representative of Google. Google is not just the name of a company but an entire culture. It is also a verb referring to an activity that is found on most dictionaries. That's the meaning I use it in and it won't be lost on anyone at least after I start making edits Googlewoman (talk) 02:50, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Robot clerk note: There is no global account registered for Googleman, however there are 8 unattached accounts on other wikis. --Legobot (talk) 02:50, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Clerk note: Please pick a new name. --I am k6ka Talk to me! See what I have done 03:45, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Why?--Googlewoman (talk) 04:29, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Because name is taken elsewhere. You can rename to username that is NOT taken on ANY wikimedia wikis.  Revi 04:31, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Fine. I've changed it at the top. Googlewoman (talk) 05:46, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Unicel technologies → Unicel Technologies

@Unicel technologies:  Clerk note: The username appears to be promotional. Use of a company, organization, group, website, or product name as a username is prohibited by the username policy. Please choose another name. —DerHexer (Talk) 10:57, 26 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

User:Ammar72623 → Ammar72623

Robot clerk note: I have detected the following problems:
Not done User: Prefix is a feature by MediaWiki software, which Wikipedia uses. No way to remove them. — Revi 04:39, 27 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Ammar72623: The "User" prefix only appears on your userpage, and it's to indicate that the page is in the user namespace. --I am k6ka Talk to me! See what I have done 02:42, 28 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Rock neto → rockneto

Robot clerk note: No problems found --Legobot (talk) 03:40, 28 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Clerk note: MediaWiki software automatically capitalizes the first letter of all usernames. Sorry. If you are fine with that, I can process it. (removing space) — Revi 07:44, 28 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Fine. I am OK with that. You can remove the space on my username. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rock neto (talkcontribs) 12:14, 28 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
