The IEEE Technology Management Council (TMC) [1][2][3] was formerly one of seven councils of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). The council has become the IEEE Technology and Engineering Management Society (TEMS) as of 01 January, 2015.

History

The Professional Group on Engineering Management was established under the Institute of Radio Engineers in 1951. This Group became the Engineering Management Society (EMS) of the IEEE in 1955. In 2007 the EMS became the Technology Management Council.

On 24 June, 2014, IEEE Board of Directors approved the transition of TMC to the Technology Engineering and Management Society (TEMS) effective from 01 January, 2015.

Field of interest

The field of interest of the Technology Management Council encompasses the management sciences and practices applicable to individuals engaged in or overseeing the management of engineering, technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship in a global environment. The Council provides the tools for advancing the careers of technology and innovation managers, technology professionals transitioning to management, and technology professionals with an understanding of management issues.

TMC Value Proposition

The TMC works to enable technology professionals and managers to optimize their career opportunities and organizational effectiveness. Supporting this value proposition are products and services of the Council, including publications and conferences.

Publications

The Council publishes two widely read, peer-reviewed publications: The Transactions on Engineering Management[4] and The Engineering Management Review. [5]
