mysms is a cross-platform text messaging service for smartphones, tablets and computers.[1] It synchronizes the existing text messaging history from the smartphone to desktops and tablets.[2] In contrast to instant messaging services like WhatsApp, mysms focuses on SMS. That means messages can be sent to any contact, independent of their device or operating system.[3] In addition, people can also send and receive free instant messages to other mysms users over the internet. Therefore, mysms has been referred to as the “iMessage for Android”.[4]
mysms cooperates with other cloud-services like Evernote to allow users to archive the SMS and multimedia messages.[5] The service is also offered as white-label product.[6] For example, mysms cooperated with mobile network operators like the French operator Bouygues Telecom.[7] It is a brand of sms.at (which is a company of Up to Eleven) and based in Graz, Austria.[8] The global launch was in July 2012.[9] The apps are available for popular operating systems, like Android, iOS, Windows, Mac OS, and web browsers.[10]
