This page lists useful online sources for election-related material.

General

  • Election Guide - coverage of national elections and referendums. Recent updates have been patchy and results data is often poor (preliminary results are often left as final), but reasonably useful for details of electoral systems.
  • IPU Parline - coverage of national elections. Comprehensive detail on electoral systems. Some basic details about election campaigns. Results data is mixed, but usually restricted to seats won, overall votes cast. Often combines seats won by minor parties.

Continental

Africa

  • African Elections Database One of the most complete sources on elections. Results data is usually complete where available. Not updated for a couple of years though.
  • EISA Details elections in Africa, predominantly in countries in the south of the continent. Result data is generally good, although minor parties are sometimes combined. A good source for details of election campaigns. No obvious entry point to the data, so needs to be searched via Google (link is to the Botswana archive).

Europe

  • European Elections Database Only details elections since 1990 (national and European) and EU-related referendums. Results data sometimes combines minor parties.
  • Parties and Elections - coverage of national and sub-national elections in Europe. Results data limited to % of votes and seats won and usually combines parties that didn't win seats

North America

National

Country Website
Moldova eDemocracy Comprehensive site about post-independence elections and political parties.
