This deserves some expansion. Who was Strassman? I believe he proved the result c. 1926. There is a connection with the Weierstrass preparation theorem, at least in a suitable (Bourbaki) version. In fact the theorem is a special case of that. This apparently well known. Charles Matthews 20:01, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
