History

Active Robots was founded in 2002 by Antony Lovedale out of a passion for all things robotic and the frustration found with limited parts supply in the United Kingdom. With his wife, Maggie, they created Active Robots to supply hobbyists and educational establishments with a reliable retailer within the United Kingdom with which to deal with. The company has grown dramatically over the years and now stocks over 3000 different lines and ships all over the world.

Expansion

Active Robots acquired Total Robots in 2009 to expand their product range and solidify their position at number 1 for robotics parts supplier within the United Kingdom.

Diversification

In 2013 the company diversified and created Active8 Robots to satisfy the increasing demand from Higher Education providers for the 'next generation' of robotics to help with the practical delivery of courses. Active8 Robots currently provides the latest robotic research technology to Universities throughout the United Kingdom and Europe with the Baxter Research Robot and Nao Humanoid Robot.

Education

Active Robots have been involved in the education sector within the United Kingdom for over 10 years and have expanded their product portfolio to reflect the changing needs of today's educators. They have built strong ties with education providers such as EDT to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) enrichment activities throughout the UK. Active Robots have also recently been voted number 1 as the best provider of robotics in the field of education education.[1][2]
