Linux Lite is a distribution of the family of GNU/Linux Operating Systems, originated in [1], based on Ubuntu and led by Jerry Bezencon. This distribution is characterized in that it is friendly to the novice user, ease of use, but also because it provides a stable and agile performance, with very little consumption of resources, thanks to its innovative desktop Xfce, a lightweight single desktop.

Linux Lite is free and is designed to be fast and simple, suitable for new Linux users who want a lightweight and fully functional environment. Also, with Linux Lite, anyone can give new life to that old computer he could still have abandoned somewhere in your home or office, not only due to the limited resources of the machine but also because of the high hardware requirements that are currently required for a PC[2] by operating systems like Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 9[3].

The purpose of Linux Lite is to slowly introduce Windows users in Linux, so Linux Lite is an example of how easy it can be both use Linux on old computers as well as in modern computers.

In April 2014, Windows XP stopped receiving technical support and automatic security updates from Microsoft Corporation, so millions of computers were unprotected worldwide. It is for this that Linux Lite wants to exploit that gap to extend the life of these old machines and offer a new air for several years.

The Linux Lite advertising slogan is "Simple, fast, free".

Linux Lite is available not only in 32-bit version but also in 64-bit version. However, the 32-bit version is a lightweight distribution for machines with limited resources.

Linux Lite includes their own repositories in the '''Software''' Manager. This facilitates the maintenance and updating of own packages as Lite User Manager, Lite Manual, Lite Fix and Lite Software, which is a script that allows you to add or remove additional software. It also includes several programs that are among the popular ones such as Skype, Dropbox, Java plugin, VirtualBox, PlayOnLinux, Multimedia Codecs, Chrome, Steam and others.

Linux Lite is not Linpus Linux Lite

Linux users should be clear that Linux Lite is not the same as Linpus Linux Lite. These are two completely different distributions. So do not be confused. In this article we are referring specifically to Linux Lite.
