Highest attendance for Black Country derby

Good work on tidying up the article. I've been meaning to do some work on this for a while. The highest crowd for a Black Country derby at The Hawthorns was 60,945 on March 4, 1950, (1–1). So did you mean that 56,661 is the highest for a Black Country derby at Molineux? It's still notable information, but needs to be re-worded slightly to be strictly accurate. --Jameboy (talk) 14:44, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re Clapham

according to BOTH Leicester's and Wolves' official website's it was a loan move. Skitzo (talk) 20:40, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Stearman

Hi. Sorry for overwriting your work on Richard Stearman. We were evidently working on the article at the same time, and I when I glanced at who had edited whilst I had been I only saw the IPs. My own errors when doing the edit meant I accidentally removed the Wolves players category and placed the squad template in the wrong place. However, I am a tad baffled as to why, when adding extra information to the article, you seemingly reverted my entire edit, which had done a fair amount to tidy the page. I had re-written the article so it conformed to styles accepted by WP:FOOTBALL, worked on the prose and added citation tags where required - which you have removed without adding the required verification. If you disagree with any of the stylistic changes made then obviously we can discuss it, but otherwise I'll probably edit the article back to the shape I left it in (whilst keeping the extra information you added, of course). Cheers, HornetMike (talk) 11:56, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wolves

Hey, nice new section on the Wolverhampton Wanderers page. I became a fan last year when I was in Wolves and follow the new season from Germany. Let's hope for at least one rank better this season! --Shiver (talk) 12:12, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Middle Names

This type of infotmation is available on the index of birth death and marriages at the Public Record Office - it is the register on which all births, deaths and marriages in England and Wales is stored. Now available on CD and online or at local libraries etc., it is therefore both in the public domain and original research in terms of living people rules. RobStreatham - sorry using EU keyboard no squiggly lines.

Bill Shorthouse

Hey, noticed you've expanded the article. Sorry I forgot to change the categories, stupid of me :-( There's one thing I should mention which you may not be aware of. The bit of hidden personal information headed <!-- Metadata: see [[Wikipedia:Persondata]] --> which you deleted is actually supposed to be there; please have a look at WP:Persondata to see what it's for. I'll put it back. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 15:39, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ted Pheasant

Pheasant was on my list of articles to create, so many thanks for starting it off and saving me a task. I'll see what I can do to expand it. Cheers! --Jameboy (talk) 22:35, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dickie Baugh, Jr

I've added a few bits and have more to add in due course. I wanted to ask you about his name though, as it could affect the article title and hence a possible page move. It needs a full discussion though - I certainly don't want to jump hastily into a page move and then have to move it again. Indeed if there's any doubt I would rather not move the page. Points for possible discussion:

  • My Matthews book has his first name as Dicky, rather than Dickie. Not a major one, but it would be worth keeping an eye out for further sources to see if there is any consensus on the spelling.
  • Does the article title need a dot after it? (e.g. like Sammy Davis, Jr.)
  • In terms of usage of Snr, Jr or both in the article titles, I'm happy to go with your source, since both players played for Wolves whereas only Baugh Jr played for Albion. My Matthews book actually calls them Baugh and Baugh Snr (as opposed to Baugh Jr and Baugh), but I'm pretty sure this is an "Albion point of view", i.e. Baugh Snr didn't play for Albion so is of less interest to the Albion fan reading it. --Jameboy (talk) 23:08, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Joe Wilson (footballer born 1937)

Just to let you know that I have created the article Joe Wilson (footballer born 1937). It is just a stub really, but I'm sure you will be able to expand it. I recently created Joe Wilson (footballer born 1861) and decided to create the 1937 one while I was at it, in order to save having to do a page move later. Apparently there have been several other footballing Joe Wilsons as well as these two. --Jameboy (talk) 16:12, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dick Betteley

I should be able to add some details. One thing - I've checked four separate books (three of which are by Tony Matthews, the most recent of which is 2007) and all spell the surname Betteley (no 'r'). Can you double-check your source? My only concern about a possible page move is that your source is the most recent, raising the possibility that new information may have been uncovered. --Jameboy (talk) 21:32, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: your comment on my talk page from a couple of weeks ago - I've checked all my record books and so has Goonerak (talk · contribs) and we can't find any reference to him playing in an official match for Arsenal - so most likely he joined Arsenal but never played, so I've amended his article thus. Hope that's an acceptable compromise. Qwghlm (talk) 00:38, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jack Needham

Just to let you know I've created a small article on Jack Needham. As he was quite a major player for your lot in the 1910s, I'm sure you'll have stuff to add (or correct). cheers, Struway2 (talk) 12:25, 18 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for fixing the typo ;-) Probably more to find in Charlie Phillips (footballer), also more yours than mine. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 13:13, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Walter Bunch

New page for Walter Bunch: is this the same bloke as this page calls Wilbert Bunch? some of the details are the same, like he played 7 games for Wolves at about the right time, but some are different, like him moving directly on to Walsall with no Bristol Rovers. And I'm not convinced by the place of birth, either. If you have a minute, could you have a look in your books and see what they say? thanks, Struway2 (talk) 12:49, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. It may be significant that Matthews dropped Bristol Rovers between 1995 when he wrote the Blues book and 2001 when he wrote yours. Although they did have two seasons in the Birmingham & Dist Lge between 1897 and 1899, so it's not as unlikely as it might seem; he could have played the odd game at the end of the 1898/99 season, or possibly agreed to join and then they were gazumped by Walsall. Dunno... cheers, Struway2 (talk) 14:54, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
PS. I've asked the resident Bristol Rovers expert User:Gasheadsteve if he can shed any light on the matter, cheers, Struway2 (talk) 15:10, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
And he says this (copied from my talk page):
I can confirm that there was a W. Bunch that played for Eastville Rovers at this time. I don't have the dates of him joining or leaving the club, but he scored against Kidderminster Harriers in the Birmingham & District League on 23 March 1898 and played in the Gloucestershire Cup final on 26 February 1898.
I have a theory (also expounded on his talk page), as follows:
Bunch only actually appeared in Wolves' first team in 1896. They couldn't find a use for him, so allowed him to play for Eastville Rovers, while retaining his Football League registration. So when he joined Walsall in 1899, it was Wolves who held his FL registration, so as far as they're concerned, they transferred their player directly to Walsall. But Joyce is still correct that he played for Rovers between the two.
Works for me, anyway :-) cheers, Struway2 (talk) 18:05, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kyle Bennett

As it was originally a PROD before, now that's been contested (even by an unknown IP user) it will need to go through AfD procedures. I'll have look at nominating it later, when I'm not so busy. --Jimbo[online] 15:50, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds like Batth should be included in the squad template then. It's perhaps worth adding him to Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C.#Current squad as well. Cheers, --Jimbo[online] 15:54, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wolves squad

I just reverted the addition of a couple of names to the squad, which were added by a school IP that had been vandalising earlier, then realised that the names actually were those of genuine Wolves academy kids (oops...) So please could you check whether diff was a correct edit or not, thanks. And sorry to be a nuisance. Struway2 (talk) 10:40, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wolves numbers

Why have you removed all the numbers from the Wolves squad? Most of the players already have numbers while the new signings are awaiting theirs. Wolves are now the only premiership side without these, so it makes the page look unprofessional. --MSR-Liverpool (talk) 19:43, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I added the number of one player, Castillo, only because they mentioned his number in an Ecuadorian news article (this one, fourth paragragh. Hope you can read Spanish). Digirami (talk) 17:04, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There is a discussion about this former Wolves player's youth club at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football#Admin needed at Martin Bayly - basically does your The Wolves Who's Who by Tony Matthews confirm that he played for a team called Little Bray, as you added to the article way back when...? As you are a Wolves fan and I am a Aston Villa fan could we call a truce because I want you to show me how you did the matches of the Wolves 1953–54 because I want to do them on the following parts on theses articles:

I hope this won't waste your time. Mr Hall of England (talk) 17:07, 7 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Harry Aston

It's only taken me 11 months to get back to you... I did add a few bits to the article. So we have Harry Aston (Harold Mason Aston), but there was also another Albion player called Harry Aston (Henry John Aston). I'm wondering whether to distinguish by year of birth (1855 & 1881) or their full names. Normally the convention seems to be year of birth but as they have distinctly different full names I'm thinking that might be better. As you created the Harold Mason Aston article I thought I'd get your input before creating the second article or doing any page moves. Cheers. --Jameboy (talk) 00:43, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Wolvesweb. I noticed you changed the European Cup results in the infobox of 1958–59 Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. season from first to second round back in April. The page it links to, 1958–59 European Cup#Second round, indicates Wolverhampton only made it to the first round however (and the article doesn't have a Second Round section, so the section link doesn't work properly). I was thinking of changing it back to First Round, but figured I'd ping you, as you would know far more than I about it. Could you take a look at it for me if you get a chance? Thanks. Winston365 (talk) 02:05, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Preliminary round of the 1958–59 European Cup was infact known as the first round. Many clubs got byes which makes it look like it was a preliminary round only. I have researched this from newspapers of the time and had begun working on the 1958–59 European Cup article in a txt file (with this change of name plus formatting the games to match current Champions League wiki formatting), to be adding to the wiki when I was through (I'm currently at the Qtr Final stage). So obviously therefore what is currently listed as "First round" on the wiki was really the second round. Hence my alterations to the Wolves season page. Wolvesweb (talk) 10:54, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ahh, that makes sense. I'll leave you to it then. Thanks for the explanation. Cheers. Winston365 (talk) 14:57, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I know this is a longshot, but I was wondering if you had anything to add to Val Gregory and George Edmonds, both of whom are ex-Watford and both of whom played for Wolves in the 1921 FA Cup Final. Regards, —WFC14:22, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Wolvesweb,

You seem to be the go-to person for the tables of information and other finer points about Wolverhampton Wanderers on en.Wikipedia. I expect it keeps you pretty busy, but I have a couple of suggestions you might consider taking on if you have time:

On the Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. article, perhaps you could add (a table of) links to the various Wolves “season” articles.

Also on the Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. article, in the Players section there is a note saying the additional under-21 players are marked in italics – but they aren’t.

And a cross-cultural issue: On the 2011–12 Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. season article (possibly in a template), a crucifix-style cross is used to identify permanent players who left club during the season. In many countries (including, for example, Austria), that symbol after a person’s name means “deceased” – which looks a bit harsh on Stefan Maierhofer.

I hope these are helpful.

Cheers, and Happy New Year.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Leon Clarke, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page John Sheridan (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Template:2013–14 Football League One table

Hi. I just wanted to let you know that you did a very good and helpful edit to Template:2013–14 Football League One table but unfortunately you forgot to edit the helper template Template:2013–14 Football League One table/p. All of these new league templates spreading on wikipedia has a helper template to make sure that the correct rows are shown on the different season articles so please make sure to remember to update it too. Thank you. QED237 (talk) 20:24, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I just wanted to remember you again to update helper template Template:2013–14 Football League One table/p. Now I just did that for you. To be sure all updates are registrered in the right order you should in fact save helper before saving the table. QED237 (talk) 18:22, 1 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
