Journal of Vibration and Control is a peer-reviewed academic journal that publishes papers in the field of Acoustics. The journal's editor is Ali Nayfeh (Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University). It has been in publication since 1995 and is currently published by SAGE Publications.

Scope

Journal of Vibration and Control contains analytical, computational and experimental studies of vibration phenomena and their control. The journal covers all linear and nonlinear vibration phenomena as well as topics such as vibration and control of structures and machinery and signal analysis and aeroelasticity. Journal of Vibration and Control contains contributions, review articles, tutorials and letters that are published based on analytical, computational, and experimental analysis.

Peer review fraud

In 2014, SAGE Publications retracted 60 papers published in the journal due to a case of academic fraud, in which a professor at National Pingtung University of Education in Taiwan created false accounts in order to subvert the peer review process.[1] Professor Ali H. Nayfeh, the editor-in-chief of the journal, retired from his academic position and resigned from his position with the journal.[2]

Abstracting and indexing

Journal of Vibration and Control is abstracted and indexed in, among other databases: SCOPUS, and the Social Sciences Citation Index. According to the Journal Citation Reports, its 2010 impact factor is 0.863, ranking it 16 out of 29 journals in the category ‘Acoustics’.[3] and 43 out of 122 journals in the category ‘Engineering’. [4] and 80 out of 132 journals in the category ‘Mechanics’. [5]
