I could use some guidance on what needs to be changed for https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Groovey.TV to be accepted. Thank you very much! Zuluflipper (talk) 23:40, 23 April 2014 (UTC)
- @Zuluflipper: As has been pointed out already, the subject has no claim to notability and most of the sources listed are not reliable. Chris Troutman (talk) 00:01, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
In the 1st round of the article the reviewer mentioned there were insufficient citations. As a result, I spent a lot of time on the web searching for citations and put up whatever I found that was relevant.
In the latest review of this article (Solana Networks), LukeSurl has indicated that there are too many citations and some of the citations are not needed.
It would be helpful to find out exactly which citations to delete. Can someone let me know? This would probably shorten the back and forth cycle.
thanks
sdoya
Sdoya (talk) 02:42, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
- @Sdoya: What LukeSurl is referring to is that you have a lot of citations but many of them don't link to reliable sources. You want to stick to CBC, The Globe and Mail, etc. One of your URLs is Reuters, but they're re-posting a PR release from Market Wire. When you take out all those non-reliable sources you have very little left to make a case for WP:GNG. You don't have to delete all of them but I would recommend restructuring the article around your few solid sources. Chris Troutman (talk) 06:35, 26 April 2014 (UTC)
Looking for feedback in regards to neutrality and if referencing is sufficient?
Thanks
Swillats (talk) 05:24, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
- To editor Swillats: Referencing is definitely not sufficient. One source is not enough to demonstrate notability. On neutrality, Rankersbo has already left a comment on your submission. I advise you to read that as well as information about so-called peacock terms. Anon126 (notify me of responses! / talk / contribs) 19:38, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Sandy Stimpson
Hello, I submitted my article 20 days ago and am curious to find out if there is anything we are able to do in order to get our submission reviewed more quickly. The submission is for Sandy Stimpson, the Mayor of Mobile, Alabama and there has been a high demand for his Wikipedia page. If we should add more information or sources, please let us know or if there is anything else we can do to get our article processed more quickly. Thank you for your time! Declined Municipal officials aren't necessarily notable and WP:NPOL has specific requirements. The subject also doesn't meet WP:GNG. Chris Troutman (talk) 05:46, 26 April 2014 (UTC)
Hi, I have sumbitted an article three weeks ago and it has not yet been approved. I want to learn if there is missing elements to it that needs to be corrected and that is the reason why it has not been approved yet. Is there a way that I can learn about it? Thanks, Ipek Basaran Ib598 (talk) 17:50, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
- To editor Ib598: There are over two thousand submissions currently, so reviews take time for all of them. However, I've just declined yours. It needs references to independent, reliable sources of information. You can also learn more about editing articles about subjects with which you are affiliated. Hello!
I was wondering if somebody could tell me exactly what links I need to remove in order for my Wikipedia page to be approved. It has been declined twice and I would really appreciate a clear outline of what is wrong with it so that I can fix them and resubmit. The article is Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Dr. Salvatore Pacella. Thank you so much for your help!
DrPacella (talk) 21:49, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
- @InnoWikipedia: I cut out the long list of publications. While I know how important that is to academics, it means nothing here. Second, I started reformatting the references. That's not a required step but it helps me see at a glance what the sources really are. Reflinks is great for that. My concern is that the subject lacks general notability and most of the URLs provided are for organizations of which Pacella is a member, so they're not independent. He also fails WP:ACADEMIC as the Worden award itself isn't notable and there's no evidence he did any groundbreaking research. I'd also like to point out that this submission looks very promotional. Chris Troutman (talk) 05:29, 26 April 2014 (UTC)

Hello,
My article was rejected basically because it lacked the references to prove notability etc. I have updated the article and was wondering if you could let me know if I am in the ball park. I believe I have the appropriate references now. Let me know Thank you. PR PerformerResearch (talk) 00:16, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
- @PerformerResearch: You're getting close to acceptance. The subject doesn't meet WP:NBAND but with more mentions in reliable sources (like newspapers, etc.} I think you might have a chance to pass WP:GNG. At this point though, I could not accept this article. Chris Troutman (talk) 05:03, 26 April 2014 (UTC)
Thanks Chris, can you let me know what areas are do not have reliable sources? I have been looking at other pages and the sources I see on them don't seem to meet what you are saying as sources. None of which have newspaper reference. Many of the sources in my article are from legitimate publications like the Muse's Muse, Minor 7th and No Depression. If you can just give me some more specific guidance that would be helpful. Are any of the sources I have included not acceptable sources or is there a particular area in the article that is questionable. I really appreciate your help.
Thank you PerformerResearch PerformerResearch (talk) 12:47, 26 April 2014 (UTC)
- @PerformerResearch: First, WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS isn't a valid argument. Fully a third of Wikipedia is unreferenced and should be deleted but this project doesn't address that. You'll note I reformatted two references. It's not necessary but it helps me to evaluate sources. I had been unaware that No Depression was an actual magazine. Meanwhile The Evening Sun in upstate NY doesn't look like an actual newspaper though from a glance it looks like it might be. Most of your sources look like random websites so unless those publications have a Wikipedia entry of their own, I assume they're probably not reliable. I'm not a student of music so I don't have a lot of knowledge of the trade publications. I recommend you contact WikiProject Musicians as they would know more about this subject. Chris Troutman (talk) 17:46, 26 April 2014 (UTC)
Thanks Chris, I will have to look at what you mean about WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. I know that No Depression is recognized among the artist community, but I guess I really still don't understand what is official. Thanks for the reformatting. I will follow that format and your advice. PR PerformerResearch (talk) 18:34, 26 April 2014 (UTC)
Chris I see what you mean by other stuff exists as an argument. I was using other pages as a guide and examples of what I could use as legitimate and was confused and not necessarily as an argument. I see what you mean now by needing another project. I will check with Project Musicians. PRPerformerResearch (talk) 18:43, 26 April 2014 (UTC)
Hi, I haven't been able to visit this article in awhile but I'm still interested in learning what is wrong with my page to the point that it's not able to be published as a regular page. - To editor John L. Benjamin II: First, it has not been submitted for review: Click "Submit your draft when you are ready for it to be reviewed!" to submit it.
- If you submit it now, it will probably be rejected. It seems you are trying to write an article about yourself. This is strongly discouraged but not forbidden. Wikipedia has lots of rules, but understanding some of the more important ones will greatly improve your article's chances of being accepted:
- Verifiability: Information must come from published, reliable sources of information. Personal experience is not reliable, because it is not published.
- Notability: Subjects need to be "notable" before they can have an article. Notability generally means that reliable sources independent of the subject have discussed it in detail.
- Neutral point of view and not for promotion: Articles should be neutral in content and tone. Those two pages are rather long, so I suggest you read about describing aesthetic opinions and peacock terms, the two parts that relate the most to your submission.

how to upload a photo? as I used commons wizard (recommended with free files) and went with all steps but still the picture doesn't appear in my drafted article? Marwaoss (talk) 08:37, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
- @Marwaoss: The picture is there now; the servers may have needed time to parse it or something. Please add reliable sources as you complete your submission. It's not clear this person meets WP:ACADEMIC. Chris Troutman (talk) 22:11, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
Please delete article titled Abul Kalam Azad Pattanam completely. I can still see it when I search Abul Kalam Azad Pattanam. (117.204.24.82 (talk) 12:01, 25 April 2014 (UTC))

Hello,
I was wondering when my page could be reviewed as I've amended it a month ago, when the review information gave me about 3 weeks waiting time. I know and I'm sure all volunteers are doing their best, but I just would like to know (roughly) when my page could be reviewed.
In advance, many thanks for your answer.

HgPchrd (talk) 12:27, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
- @HgPchrd:
Declined This entry still sounds very essay-like and it sounds that way because this subject doesn't really exist. Some writers are trying to describe current transformations into a "Fourth Industrial Revolution" but monikers like that are only properly applied by historians hundreds of years after the fact. It's a thing called periodization. Your essay is trying to sell what you think the 4th industrial revolution is. As more writers start describing what it is, there will be more material with which to write an article. I think it's too early. Chris Troutman (talk) 22:19, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
- To editor HgPchrd: Another editor has added some comments to your submission. Please read them and make some changes; this will greatly improve the submission's chances of being accepted. Anon126 (notify me of responses! / talk / contribs) 22:11, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

- @Sanjay upadhyaye: First, I've already sent you an invitation to the Wikipedia Adventure; I suggest you improve your technical editing skills. Second, your article seems to have reliable sources but I'm concerned about the notability conferred by National School of Drama awards that aren't notable themselves. I want to include a picture of the photographer, but I can't upload that to Wiki Commons as I don't know the copyright status. Do I have to get some sort of written permission from the photographer to use the photo of him from his own website in the article? Larantes (talk) 16:10, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
- To editor Larantes: If it has already been made public, then the answer is yes. The photographer will have to release it under a free license (usually one of the licenses listed at Commons copyright tags). Follow the instructions here. Hi there. I just submitted an article for being reviewed on Wikipedia and I have received a notification that it has been declined. So would you please advise me the reason(s) for rejection, so that I can correct it accordingly and improve my article? This is the first time I take part in a project on Wikipedia, and I really want to contribute useful information to your directory. I look forward to your feedback. Thank you in advance.113.190.163.193 (talk) 19:39, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
- First, understand that Wikipedia is not a business directory. It only includes topics that are "notable," which means that they have been discussed by people who are independent of it. So you need to find independent, reliable sources of information (such as news articles or reviews) that discuss this organization and cite them in the article. Declined First, having a username including "mount sinai" concerns me when you write an article about a doctor that works at that hospital. Your submission doesn't meet WP:GNG or WP:ANYBIO. The entire thing looks promotional and probably could be deleted again. If you want to contribute to Wikipedia, you have to be here to do it without any ulterior motives. If your job is to be public relations, 99% of the time your efforts are going to violate our norms. Chris Troutman (talk) 21:12, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
- To Davidsansmountsinai and Chris troutman: My initial research indicates that this subject easily passes WP:PROF—holds a named chair at a major medical school, very high citation index, extensive coverage in major Spanish newspapers, a lengthy article devoted to him and and his work in the New York Times [2] (subsequently reprinted in Scientists at Work: Profiles of Today's Groundbreaking Scientists from Science Times, The New York Times (McGraw Hill). The problem is that the article is poorly referenced, uses highly promotional language, and lacks a biographical narrative. Alas, a common problem when articles are written based on public relations material and/or official biographies, as this one is. Much of it is paraphrased from pages like [3] and [4]. I'm going to completely re-write and reference this article. It will be considerably shorter, devoid of adjectives, factual, neutral, and boring :-). Voceditenore (talk) 08:06, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
Hello,
I want to add a discography that will include name of album, artist and year released. There will be nearly a hundred including many notable albums that should link, such as LeAnn Rimes "Blue". I have read and read, but don't understand how to insert a proper template. Can you help me please?

- @Racheldeering: I would recommend copying an entry from our discographies category. I guess Help:Tables wasn't helpful. On a side point, so far your entry doesn't meet WP:NBAND; you might want to be sure Milo is notable himself because simply saying he was involved on notable songs or albums might not be enough. Being the spouse of the subject and mentioning that in the article isn't a good omen, either. Chris Troutman (talk) 18:18, 26 April 2014 (UTC)

Hello Wikipedia, I have received a message from Wikipedia which states that the article I had submitted has been refused because of copyright violations. I do not see any cause for that comment unless it is a very small quotation from 'The Wisdom of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras'. Could you help me to see what might be a problem and how to make the article ready for publication. Thank you. Priscilla Murray Priscillamurray (talk) 00:26, 26 April 2014 (UTC)
- To editor Priscillamurray: The deletion log indicates that the page was a copyright violation of this book page. Perhaps the text of your article matched the "About the Author" section?

Declined Yes, sometimes when the article is submitted a template indicating such is placed at the bottom but the box at the top indicating otherwise stays at the top. I don't know why this happens. Hi
I have re-submitted my article based on feedback sometime back which I have been building for almost a year now. I am keen to hear back from the reviewers. I have taken up the case of creation of this article to espouse the alternate view of researchers (research-collators in htis case) who have dared to go into the ancient and pre-historic era which is otherwise consigned to the brackets of "mythology". mainstream and the dominant narrative is not inclusive, and look forward to free-world wikipedia to help me out here!!!

Hi there, I hope you can please help me with the following:
I have been working on the page for Eniac Ventures, and my last submission seems to keep falling behind more entries every time I check its status. Is there a reason for this? Can I do anything about it?
Also, the article has been rejected previously because it is too promotional. It seems like the things that might be interpreted as promotional are also backed up with citations. What would be the best way to reduce any promotional undertones in these sections?
Any help you can provide would be really appreciated.
Thank you!
Loughlinrodd (talk) 00:53, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
- @Loughlinrodd: First, there is no queue as reviews are conducted randomly. You're not falling behind. I took a look at the entry. Here's an example:
"Although a relatively young firm, Eniac has been ranked in the upper echelon of early-stage venture funds. In 2013, the Firm's fourth year of existence, it was ranked as one of the most active Seed investors in the United States by private equity research firm CB Insights 2013 Seed Investors Report."
- That's all kinds of promotional. The cited source lists Eniac as #15, with absolutely no other text. Using puffery like "upper echelon" and "most active" is an attempt to shade the truth. The longest paragraph is a name-dropping exercise.
- Most of your sources are business news at the best. Many of them are PR releases. The Forbes citation is an interview with someone at Eniac, so it's not independent. It's very questionable if this business has any notability. Chris Troutman (talk) 02:45, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
Please help me, I am trying to approve my article from the last 4 months. But unfortunately my article has been disapproved many times. I had been changed the content many times and given many useful references, buy my article was never approved.
I hope someone from Articles for creation/Help desk can helps me.
Please review my article.
Anilmehta9 (talk) 07:48, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
- @Anilmehta9: While I admit this must be a frustrating process, your efforts are trying to push a promotional piece. The subject does not appear to be notable and it likely never will be. For example, glancing at your Business Standard citation, the "news" article is a press release (kept in the newspaper's "announcements" section) so it's not even a valid source. The rest of your citations are of questionable value, too. I think with help your submission will eventually be accepted although I don't think our encyclopedia will be any better off for it. - @AllyEvansWiki: Your submission has no sources. You must cite sources in order to establish notability. You can start with this sad article from The Guardian of all places. Be sure your submission sticks to verifiable facts not what you find on social media. It looks like it's too early for any real notability but I'd guess in six months this is who the kids will be talking about. - @Devetter: You were missing a fore-slash. Please add more sources as I'm not sure you've made the case for notability. If you haven't already, see WP:VG/GL. Chris Troutman (talk) 14:29, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
Hi there - When I look at this page, it states two things: 1. That the article has not been submitted yet 2. That the article is awaiting to be reviewed.
Please can you confirm which of these is correct!!?

Review of Draft:Boston CitiNet
My submission Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Boston CitiNet
Was rejected because of a claimed problem with references. The reviewer asked that I use footnotes.
When I looked at the instructions for references, I thought that I did things correctly - by adding a references list per these instructions:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citing_sources: A general reference is a citation that supports content, but is not linked to any particular piece of material in the article through an inline citation. General references are usually listed at the end of the article in a References section. They are usually found in underdeveloped articles, especially when all article content is supported by a single source. They may also be listed in more developed articles as a supplement to inline citations.
These are articles that support the general topic and are now explicitly linked to the content. CitiNet was covered by several publications like the Boston Globe and the Boston Herald but this was the early 80's and the articles do not appear in their archives.
Is there another problem with references?
Do I need to list the RealNet reference as a footnote?
Thanks,
MJKBoston

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/National Medal of Honor Museum of Military History
My first article submission was declined because: 1. Initally I copied and pasted our museum history from our website history page. A copyright violation. It has since been rewritten. 2. Initally the references were not sufficient. New references have been added.
Will you review my edited article please? Is it now ready for submission and approval?

Thank you for commending me on all the verifiable references ®amos. The process of creating the article & getting all the verifiable references have been illuminating to me. I'm not understanding the violation of CSD A7 well, & feel inadequate to edit the article to comply further with Wikipedia. Anyone willing to edit it?

- @MarkMillerITPro: If you're unwilling to continue work on the article, you might consider userfication of the article so the incubator can work on it. Beyond the fact that the entry is very promotional, the "Recent Milestones" section is hard for me to properly criticize. I think you're coming at this article from the wrong point of view and could certainly use the help of another editor. Chris Troutman (talk) 10:50, 29 April 2014 (UTC)

- @MarkMillerITPro: My mistake. I guess there's no other option, then. Chris Troutman (talk) 15:33, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
- @MarkMillerITPro - The Article Incubator is indeed closing down - it is not accepting any new submissions. It was in any case only used for articles sent there as an alternative to deletion - so only article that were already in mainspace could go have gone there. The Draft space is replacing the incubator and will also become the preferred location for AFC submissions (as soon as all the tools and templates we use have been adapted for it. If you wish to continue working on your draft you can simply continue where it is - If you do not wish to continue working on it you can either move it to Draft-space or if you don't think it will become an acceptable article you can simply delete it. Not done Unfortunately, My Chemistry Final Exam takes precedence over editing Wikipedia. I will be back later. I submitted some changes, tell me what you think. Here is my notepad quick short list of my changes (its blunt, but its so i don't forget why i changed something):
- These milestones aren't relevent to the article, and only serve to promote the company
- The competeitors section is not needed, as the Categories (listed at the bottom) will already cover this.
- "Key People" (other than the CEO) are not notable, unless they serve or have served elsewhere. If people are interested in finding out the entire board of directors, the website link will serve as the connection.
- The first sentence has changed to a more neutral point of view.
- removed "patent pending". Legal claims are not handled on Wikipedia.
And to note: AFCH = Yet another Articles for creation helper script. Easy way to help check references (which anyone can do) and get those nice looking templates on a page really quickly without really having to type anything. ®amos likes messages! 16:45, 29 April 2014 (UTC)

@Sanjay upadhyaye: First, I've already sent you an invitation to the Wikipedia Adventure; I suggest you improve your technical editing skills. Good afternoon,
I have just added three different sources from an online newspaper (Diario de Avila) and two specialized local spanish websites which have no relationship with the Madrid Lions Rugby club or any of its members. The three articles talk about different matches at differents locations and dates... Sincerely, we do not know what or where attach these articles in order to be representative of independent reliable sources.
Although Spain has a very strong mass of supporters, the newspapers and magazine have only eyes for football so it is really hard to find articles or reviews about rugby and particularly about a rugby club such as the Madrid Lions R.F.C.
May you be so kind to guide me in order to find the proper reviews and proofs to help you analyze and verify the Madrid Lions page at Wikipedia, please?
Thank you very much in advance.
Sincerely,

I posted to this helpdesk on the 4th of March and have not received any response. I am posting again as the reasons for rejection are not clear (as explained below) and I wish to resolve any issues with the article as soon as possible
My article was not accepted due to the subject (composer/performer, Daniel Rojas) being considered insufficiently notable. However, I believe the criteria for notability have been met:
1) The composer's works and recordings have been reviewed by numerous independent sources around Australia including major newspapers (Canberra Times), Australia's premiere music magazine (Limelight Magazine) and major online music media (Resonance magazine, AU Review and Sounds like Sydney).
2) The composer is represented by the Australian Music Centre - representation is reserved only for significant Australian composers and can only be attained via a rigorous peer-review process.
3) The composer's work is featured on the websites of internationally renown ensembles, orchestras and performers who have commissioned and performed his work.
4) The composer has been a finalist for a major national composition prize.
5) The composer is the subject of scholarly work discussing his innovations and new approaches to Latin-American influenced classical music.
6) The composer is on staff at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, the largest tertiary music education institution in the country.
These seem to fulfil the criteria for notability several times over - if the criteria have still not been met, can you please clarify what additional information would be required to demonstrate notability?
Zkanga (talk) 14:57, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
- @Zkanga: I don't see how the subject meets WP:ARTIST. Furthermore, you have only one citation from The Canberra Times for which you did not provide a link. That newspaper has a website and gives no result for the subject, so I can't verify it. You have only one citation from Limelight (magazine) which only mentions the subject's CD being an "editor's choice." Finally, I removed a large copyright violation, so that's a major red flag. Chris Troutman (talk) 15:59, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
- @Chris troutman: Thanks for your feedback. As the subject is a musician, he only needs to meet the first point of WP:MUSBIO. That is, he needs to be the subject of multiple published works. The Canberra Times website is hosted by Fairfax (which runs multiple newspapers) - they print only the main local news online but the arts pages (including) reviews are print only - I have the clipping for the review if required. Limelight Magazine only puts some of its content online: I have added a link to a second review of a CD featuring Rojas' work, which is online. You don't mention the three other online articles on other publications. How many articles are required before the subject is considered notable? This article has more references to independent articles than most of the living composers currently listed in List_of_Australian_composers, many of whom have only one or two independent articles.
Zkanga (talk) 17:56, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
- @Zkanga: There's not a hard and fast rule, but you are correct about MUSICBIO. I, personally, have very little tendency to assume good faith. Other editors may be willing to assume your citations are correct. Without being able to read the sources myself the subject doesn't pass notability. No doubt both Canberra Times and Limelight would be your reliable sources if only both of the articles could be verified. I'm not sure the other cited sources are reliable. Pointing to other subpar articles isn't a valid argument, either. Another reviewer might accept this article but I'm not willing to. Chris Troutman (talk) 02:19, 30 April 2014 (UTC)
[[Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Peggy Willis-Aarnio] I submitted this article for review and each time I checked it the page said it was pending review. I checked it today and it says draft not submitted for review at the top. Does this mean it is still under review, or do I need to change something? This is my first article so I am confused as to the status of the article at this time. Thank you.Docia49 (talk) 15:57, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
