Regression

Discovered by: Sigmund Freud Definition: The change of thought in a person because of shared memories of a relative, partner, or close friend. These memories are usually sexually disturbing, and having to do with infancy and/ or childhood. Regression could refer to:

• Regression (psychology), a defensive reaction to some unaccepted impulses
• Age regression in therapy
• Past life regression, a process claiming to retrieve memories of previous lives
• Regression (medicine), a characteristic of diseases to express lighter symptoms without disappearing totally
