The Journal of Human Development and Capabilities is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by Taylor & Francis and the Human Development and Capability Association in the field of people-centered human development and capabilities.[1]

The publication was founded in 2000 and was initially just known as the Journal of Human Development.[1] Its founding editors were Khadija Haq, President of Mahbub ul Haq Human Development Center, Pakistan (founded by her late husband Mahbub-ul-Haq), the director of the UK's Institute of Development Studies, Richard Jolly, and the development economist Sakiko Fukuda-Parr.[2]

The journal describes itself as, "a multi-disciplinary journal for people-centered development."[1]
