Proposals, March 2014

I suggest creating this category, it's a really important topic and it hasn't got a category yet. 15:00, 29 March 2014

If you look at WP:WSS/P#Proposing new stub types – procedure, you'll see that it asks you to "find a good number of stub articles, as many as you can, that will fit that template"; so, what articles would you put in your proposed stub category? --Redrose64 (talk) 15:05, 29 March 2014 (UTC)
- This one, for example: Immigrant language — Preceding unsigned comment added by Darekkk (talkcontribs) 20:08, 29 March 2014‎
That's easily stub-sorted - {{Sociolinguistics-stub}} places it into Category:Linguistics stubs and Category:Sociology stubs. But that's just one - you really need 60. --Redrose64 (talk) 20:28, 29 March 2014 (UTC)

I propose splittting Category:2000s rock song stubs by decade:

With over 500 articles now, the category could approach thousands of articles by the end of the century. --Jax 0677 (talk) 23:51, 28 March 2014 (UTC)

It shouldn't need a split. Stub categories beginning "2000s" are always for a decade, not a century. --Redrose64 (talk) 00:00, 29 March 2014 (UTC)
I agree. If editors are adding the 2000s song stub into articles for 2010s songs, they are doing so incorrectly. Such songs that could be placed in the suggested stub template should be placed in both {{2010s-song-stub}} and {{rock-song-stub}}. When the number of song articles in both categories reach 60 (which I believe is the threshold), the 2010s-rock-song-stub can be created through proper procedures. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 00:46, 29 March 2014 (UTC)
  • I'm not a regular here, but I know CfD. It seems to me that the 2010s rock song stub category is going to be needed and, as someone has created it, it should be retained now—all the more so, as the latest official specific rock song stub "2000s" is likely to be misunderstood by some inexperienced editors. – Fayenatic London 16:54, 29 March 2014 (UTC)
  • Reply - I agree with Fayenatic London on this one. Whether it is incorrect or not, inexperienced users who do not see a 2010s template available may use the 2000s template in its place, irrespective of whether it is correct. If other decades from the 20th century have required this, I am almost certain that decades in the 21st century will require it as well. --Jax 0677 (talk) 18:00, 29 March 2014 (UTC)
The normal process at WSS/P is that we create a decade-specific category when there is a demonstrable need, and not speculatively. Very few stub cats exist for centuries; in fact the only one that I know of is Category:20th-century play stubs and of its ten decades, six have their own subcategories, the other four upmerge. --Redrose64 (talk) 18:06, 29 March 2014 (UTC)

I propose splittting Category:New York City building and structure stubs by borough:

  • Category:Bronx building and structure stubs/{{Bronx-struct-stub}} - 118 stubs
  • Category:Brooklyn building and structure stubs/{{Brooklyn-struct-stub}} - 175 stubs
  • Category:Manhattan building and structure stubs/{{Manhattan-struct-stub}} - 735 stubs
  • Category:Queens building and structure stubs/{{QueensNY-struct-stub}} - 132 stubs
(upmerged here and Category:New York City school stubs) - 21 stubs

(upmerged here and Category:New York City railway station stubs) - 23 stubs

Jazz composition templates by decade

We currently have {{jazz-composition-stub}} but I think it makes sense to have:

Category:Jazz composition stubs has 325 articles, I think some of them could be split by decade, what d'ya think?♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:37, 27 March 2014 (UTC)

Suggestion: first start with upmerged templates, then let's see if any of them deserves a separate category. Regards, --Fadesga (talk) 01:59, 28 March 2014 (UTC)
I agree with Fadesga - just do it and create the category for any decade once you pass 60 for it. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 04:52, 28 March 2014 (UTC)

I propose creating Category:San Francisco Bay Area building and structure stubs, which would include:

Support all.♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:37, 27 March 2014 (UTC)

For stubs on jazz clubs and venues. This jazz club or venue is a stub... ♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:22, 24 March 2014 (UTC)

Maiō T. (talk) 20:55, 23 March 2014 (UTC)

So, I created these three categories & templates. Maiō T. (talk) 22:47, 28 March 2014 (UTC)

Speedy request. Would like subcategories for this huge category. Propose Category:Circulatory disease stubs, Category:Nervous system disease stubs, Category:Musculoskeletal disease stubs and Category:Respiratory disease stubs. The templates are already present and upmerged to the Disease stubs category.

Thanks! EricEnfermero HOWDY! 13:00, 23 March 2014 (UTC)

Looks like a speedy S1 case here. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 20:33, 24 March 2014 (UTC)

I thiml we should create Category:Wyoming building and structure stub - this would include 2 {{Wyoming-struct-stub}}s, 28 {{Wyoming-bridge-struct-stub}}s, 25 {{Wyoming-school-stub}}s, 6 {{Wyoming-sports-venue-stub}}s, 4 {{Wyoming-airport-stub}}, 4 {{Wyoming-railstation-stub}}, and 2 {{Wyoming-hospital-stub}}s - a total of 71. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 04:04, 23 March 2014 (UTC)

I think we should create Category:Hawaii building and structure stubs - in addition to the 31 articles populating Category:Hawaii school stubs (an obvious child of the proposed category, although whether or not it should exist is a separate question), we have 21 {{Hawaii-struct-stub}}s, 5 {{Hawaii-sports-venue-stub}}s, 2 {{Hawaii-hospital-stub}}s, and 1 each of {{Hawaii-airport-stub}}, {{Hawaii-bridge-struct-stub}} and {{Hawaii-hotel-stub}} - a total of 63 stubs. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 22:01, 22 March 2014 (UTC)

Category:New York City railway station stubs has passed 200 stubhs already. The only viable child stub category, at this point, would be Category:Manhattan railway station stubs/{{Manhattan-railstation-stub}} - although I can't do a scan right noiw, I know that all the contents of the permcat (100 articles), other than 4 (all from Category:Railroad terminals in New York City - Penn, an older station by the same name, Grand Cenral, and Hudson Terminal), are stubs. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 13:38, 9 March 2014 (UTC)

I have just created the upmerged {{Italy-RC-clergy-stub}}, included both in the Category:Italian religious biography stubs and in the Category:Roman Catholic clergy stubs. Further looking into this scan (74 stubs), maybe it could be a good idea to create a special Category:Italian Roman Catholic clergy stubs. What do you say? Regards, --Fadesga (talk) 20:09, 5 March 2014 (UTC)

Category created. --Fadesga (talk) 23:31, 20 March 2014 (UTC)

I propose Category:Dallas Area Rapid Transit stubs/{{DART-stub}} - a quick scan finds 63 stubs. Note that the use of abbreviation for the tag and the full name for the category already exists for other systems - e.g Category:Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority stubs/{{MBTA-stub}}. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 16:03, 2 March 2014 (UTC)
