ACE-IOS Air Space and Cyber Constructive Environment Informaiton Operations Suite (ACE-IOS). Previously known as JQUAD.

ACE-IOS provides the Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) and construtive simulations for joint and service activities. It also provides an accurate air, space and cyber representation for training, stimulation to real-world C2 and collection mangement systems, JFACC and CAOC divisions with decision quality informaiton including information operations, large scale force on force warfare and irregular warefare.

The essential elements of ACE-IOS are the Electronic Warfare (EW) Module, Command and Control (C2) Module, Network Module (JNETS), Sensor Module, Ground Game Module, JIOWC Virtual Editing Tool (JVET) and the interfaces to the Distributed Information Operations Constructive Environment (DICE) and Graphical Interactive Aggreagate Console (GIAC).

Consists of several models and interfaces:

  • Electronic Warfare (EW) Model – In conjunction with JGG, simulates ELINT emissions
  • Command and Control (C2) Model – In conjunction with JNETS and JGG, simulates C2 links
  • Joint Network Simulator (JNETS) – Builds logical links and presents cascading effects of node degradation
  • Sensor Model (Collection Manager) – ISR sensor tasking for collection
  • Joint Ground Game Model (JGG) - Builds ALL ground/naval entities that wish to be represented, collected on, reacted to, and targeted.
  • JIOWC Virtual Editing Tool (JVET) – Creates automated and editable intelligence collection reports
  • Interface to Distributed Information Operations Constructive Environment (DICE)
  • Interface to Graphical Interactive Aggregate Console (GIAC) – Part of AWSIM, graphic controller interface
  • Joint Data Translator (JDT) – The “federator”; bind models and sends out joint simulation picture. Also does Space Injects directly to Space C2 systems.
  • Digital Receiver Technology – Live or constructive simulated COMINT asset collection and reporting (Rivet Joint, Army Prophet, etc.)

It provides constructive level training that is geared toward comatant commanders and staffs were the staff processes are the focus. It has distinct component models acting in concert (i.e., Air, Ground and Maritime). The modules connect together via central informaiton artery. ACE-IOS will snoop for relevant data and act upon it when appropriate. Information collection, battlefield information systems and EW are all being modeled.

IOS Simulations:

  • Air Breathing Sensors (AWACS, RJ, U2, Global Hawk, Predator/Reaper, EP-3)
  • National Sensors (SIGINT, IMINT, ELINT)
  • GPS Guided PGM Degradation (Jamming effects)
  • Simple physical damage weaponeering adjudication via Joint Munitions Effectiveness Manual (JMEM) algorithms *
  • Common Operating Picture Stimulation (JADOCS, C2PC, CPOFF, STRED, PDSM, IMTDS, TIPOFF)
  • USMTF ISR Reporting (TACREP, MISREP, INFLTREP, RECCEREP, IIR)
  • Interface Between Constructive and Virtual Simulations
  • Can interface with live play on Common Operating Picture C2 systems
  • Stand Off and Self Protect Jamming
  • Links & Nodes (Networks) with Cascading Effects
  • Simulate Theater Ballistic Missile (TBM) launches
  • RADINT/IR signatures, Launch point(s), projected impact point(s), actual impact point(s)

Joint Data Translator (JDT) is a simulation to C4ISR interface for systems producing and receiving tactical situaltional awareness data. It produces IBS-I (TIBS), IBS-S (TDDS), TADIL A/B/J (GCCS, ADSI, C2PC), TRAP (ELINT), & OTH-GOLD data feeds. It parses any USMTF, JINTACCS, or special purpose formatted message and translates it into any other supported message format.

ACE-IOS binds a training federation together. This includes sensors (JTLS, AFSERS), Command and Control or C2 (AWSIM, VSTAR, RESA), Electronic Warfare or EW (RJMT, TACSIM, CBS), Network (TADIL A/J), Ground Game or GG (JSAF, IBS-S, IBS-I, USMTF messages).

The products that ACE-IOS produce are:

  • Electronic Order of Battle
  • Air Breathing Sensors (RJ, U2, Global Hawk, Predator, EP-3)
  • Fused National Sensors (SIGINT, IMINT, ELINT)
  • GPS Guided PGM Degradation
  • Fixed Target Adjudication via Joint Munitions Effectiveness Manual (JMEM)
  • Common Operating Picture (COP) (TADIL, IBS-I (TIBS), IBS-S (TDDS), TRAP)
  • USMTF ISR Reporting (TACELINT, TACREP, MISREP, IPIR)
  • Fused and Unfused ELINT
  • Interface Between Constructive and Virtual Simulations
  • Stand Off and Self Protect Jamming
  • Links & Nodes (Networks) with Cascading Effects
