Why is my article showing up blank and getting declined?

I have followed the directions from reviews and resubmitted my article, but it keeps coming back that it is blank and is being denied. Please help.

˜˜˜˜ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kslavick (talkcontribs) 01:06, 1 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That is simply the previous time it was declined. It is currently awaiting another review. Anon126 (talk - contribs) 03:46, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Why my article was declined? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jeangustavee (talkcontribs) 01:59, 1 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The reason is given in the notice at the top. In short, you have not shown notability of the person. Notability generally means that a person has been discussed in independent, reliable sources of information, such as news articles, magazines, television, film, and so on. (See the general guideline, the guideline for people, and the guideline for music for more information. Any one of these may be used.)
To show notability, you should cite these sources. See the introduction to referencing or referencing for beginners to learn how to do this. Anon126 (talk - contribs) 03:53, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

What is wrong with this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Helloworld781 (talkcontribs) 06:11, 1 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Nobody has touched it in six months, all you need to do is edit it, or simply hit the "Submit" button. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 08:27, 1 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please do let me know why the article has been rejected. Please do advise how to go about to create a page for Dr. A Ramakrishna?? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dicomnett (talkcontribs) 06:55, 1 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I was wondering what I need to do to improve my submission for approval. The page I created mimics and links to similar, relevant pages. The band I created it for has and has had several notable musicians and the page, I feel, was prepared better than the pages for its sister bands. Cbwagner20 (talk) 14:44, 1 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Oscarwildecat

Though I've edited before, this is first time I've created a new article! I've created the new article in oscarwildecat sandbox. Warning box at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Oscarwildecat/sandbox/Friends_of_Sabeel%E2%80%94North_America_%28FOSNA%29#Request_review_at_WP:AFC says "This page should probably be located at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Friends of Sabeel—North America (FOSNA) (move) or Draft:Friends of Sabeel—North America (FOSNA) (move)."

Which should I choose? Once there, should I just leave it for someone else to review? Thanks so much for your help Oscarwildecat (talk) 19:53, 1 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry about it, a reviewer will fix it. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 09:09, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi There -- I'm new around here and would like to get some feedback about my first article, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Hans Bauer (writer). The subject is the original creator of the film franchise Anaconda (also the lead writer on a number of other films with stars such as Richard Gere and Jim Caviezel). The article was rejected for referencing and notability. I think notability fits the criteria for creative professionals: "The person has created... a significant or well-known work, or collective body of work... that has been the subject of... a feature-length film..." I provided in-line citations and referencing to newspaper articles, as well as external links to the Internet Movie Database (IMDb), which is used as a reference in virtual all film industry articles on Wikipedia. Also I noticed that the secondary writers on the original Anaconda film -- the writing team of Jim Cash and Jack Epps -- each have articles with no in-line citations, no referencing, and each have only one external link, to IMDb. So I'm a little a confused about the varying standards and could use some advice. Thanks! Zocalo361 (talk) 22:23, 1 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Need help - creating Articles for: Sayo Kosugi (March 2)

Hi,

I've been having some troubles couple of times submitting the article about Sayo Kosugi. I used all the info discussing with the person (Sayo Kosugi) and have confirmed with her using the texts. Sorry I'm still too new to this community and learning by doing. Thanks for your help!

Questions are, - would it be possible to use the same text that the author/person who has the copyright to claim? - on which part of the article actually was the violation of copyrights? unless specified, I have no idea which clause to update

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Sayo_Kosugi — Preceding unsigned comment added by Makwn (talkcontribs) 06:55, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If the copyright holder wishes to give permission for content to be used on Wikipedia, donating copyright materials details the process. Keep in mind, though, that Wikipedia is free content, so this donation means that anyone can use the material with few restrictions. If the copyright holder is not willing to allow that, then the material should be summarized in different words. Anon126 (talk - contribs) 23:17, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Review of Kirkibost Bernera

I wanted to write a piece about this interesting village partly because the link referring to it in the article about the island (Great Bernera) in which it is situated took you to a completely different place (ie Kirkibost North Uist). That was a factually incorrect piece of information but it along with some other factually incorrect information on the page for Great Bernera seems to be accepted as true. For example local knowledge on places on that island are discarded in favour of mis-spelt Ordnance Survey place names. Also Kirkibost does not get the recognition it deserves in this piece. When I tried to edit that piece it was simply discarded by someone who is obviously not local and has no local knowledge.

It is hugely frustrating that this is just rejected with no explanation why? Unfortunately I don't really have time to work out how to create links and cross referencing so I'd really need some assistance with that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.53.229.34 (talk) 08:21, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Only published sources can be used, local knowlege means nothing if it has not previously appeared in a Reliable source. This is necessary so that anyone can Verify the claim, unfortunately "ask a local" doesn't work. Look for articles in local newspapers or magazines. Refusal of articles (from User:Earthoceans)

im getting really jacked off because im trying to submit what i believe are good articles for wikpedia and every single one gets deleted... what must i do ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Earthoceans (talkcontribs) 08:43, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

HOW DOES THIS WORK?????? I AM TRYING TO SUBMIT ARTICLES AND I HAVE SPENT HOURTS TRYING TO PLEASE YOU GUYS....HOW DO I DO IT???? Earthoceans (talk) 08:45, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Earthoceans. I have combined your queries under one heading. I'm assuming from your talk page that you are referring to Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Chronogenetics and an article you created directly, AFRICA UNITE PARTY. Voceditenore (talk) 09:17, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'll start with AFRICA UNITE PARTY which you created yesterday for a political party which was founded only a week ago. The article was speedily deleted for unambiguous and blatant promotionalism, and failure to credibly indicate the notability of the subject. Having seen the cached version of the article, both are correct assessments. However, it would also have been speedily deleted as a blatant copyright infringement. It was copied verbatim from http://www.travelblog.org/Africa/South-Africa/Western-Cape/Cape-of-Good-Hope/blog-826851.html. It also had no references at all, and quick search indicates that coverage of this brand new party is virtually non-existent outside of blogs and other self-published sources.
As for Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Chronogenetics, we cannot accept an article which consists wholly of original research and has no references from reliable sources to support any of the claims made in it. However, The subject is a notable one. See [1] and [2]. I suggest you now spend your time adding reliable sources to the draft before you go any further. and that you look at an article like Chronobiology, to see the type of sources and writing that are required.
I think you'll find Wikipedia:Your first article very helpful as to how to get off of the right foot and avoid some of the pitfalls you have fallen into. You need to be patient both with yourself and with other editors who are helping keep Wikipedia free from non-compliant articles. Most importantly, take your time with getting these things right. The encyclopedia isn't going to run away. Best wishes. Voceditenore (talk) 09:48, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

i am getting a bit impatient because i have been trying time and time again to submit a simple article only for it to be refused each time...why? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Earthoceans (talkcontribs) 09:54, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please see my answer above and please do not keep creating new sections each time you post. Voceditenore (talk) 11:05, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, sorry to bother you. I've submitted an article "Andrew Jarvis" which has been moved to "Wikipedia talk: Articles for Creation/Andrew Jarvis".

There's a notice saying that the Wikipedia page "Andrew Jarvis" already exists, and I've looked at it, and it's a different man. I've written on Andrew Jarvis, the actor. Do you think I should change the Wikipedia article name? I'd like to keep Andrew Jarvis if possible. But if I had to change the title, it would be "Andrew Jarvis, actor".

What would you suggest, under the circumstances?

Best Wishes,

Gillian PiggottGillianpiggott (talk) 12:24, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

No, you can leave the name as it is. When the article is accepted, the reviewer will change the name to something like Andrew Jarvis (actor). Anon126 (talk - contribs) 23:03, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have created a draft of an article about an important, emerging company in a significant space in the software industry. It was rejected upon review for lack of verifiable sources. Some of the most important sources I cited are third-party industry analysts who put their content behind paywalls. While this content is easily available outside the paywalls, I did not feel when writing the article that quoting those "outside the paywall" sources for what were otherwise "inside the paywall" quotations was appropriate. I also checked Wikipedia guidelines and found that sources behind paywalls are allowed because the rules do not state that content has to be free or easily available. I am concerned that the reviewer just said "no" because the links did not immediately lead to the content he/she expected to find.

Any advice on the best way to handle this?

Intheairalot (talk) 23:27, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Even if the Spend Matters article is a substantial one that supports the content cited to it, I think there would be a good argument to say that notability is not made clear in this submission. Business Week likes to list lots of business-related things in listings; Gartner and Forrester like to rate lots of business-related things in various categories... such listings and ratings seem to me to be trivial rather than significant coverage. Hello, I would like someone to help with my article. I have read over footnotes and referencing time and time again and cannot do it. Is there anyone I can pay to help? I am really quite desperate. Thanks (Diane Tremarco (talk) 00:58, 3 March 2014 (UTC))[reply]

You seem to have gotten the hang of adding footnotes, but there are just a few points (which I've fixed):
  • The <ref>...</ref> tags should go outside the brackets and after punctuation:
[[Example link]].<ref>(Citation)</ref>
  • The "title" field is for the title of the article, "work" is for the name of the website/magazine/newspaper, and "publisher" is only needed if it differs from the work. The "last name" and "first name" fields are for the author.

Hi,

I was just wondering if you could help me.

I have recently submitted an article which is now being reviewed, called Highbury Theatre Centre, however in the history my IP address is still visible. I have set up this account afterwards as I didn't want my IP address available. Is there anything I can do in order to remove my IP address entirely from Wikipedia and existing pages?

Many thanks,

Jack

This used to be possible, but unfortunately it is no longer offered to users. sad Anon126 (talk - contribs) 02:14, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Jack, all but one of the edits from that IP address is to that article submission. If the submission is declined, then ultimately the article submission will be deleted, which will make the IP edits invisible to anyone except administrators. Hi,

I'd like to know why my submission has been denied a second time.

I have added more citations which are independent. I'm still being told they do are not "reliable." Not sure, even after reading the article about sources - what is enough.

I've seen plenty of articles that seem to have less "reliable" sourcing that are up on the site. So I guess I'm confused about what the standards are for having an article published at all.

Thanks,

Emcampbe

Ecampbe (talk) 03:53, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Emcampbe. The basic standard for article notability is Wikipedia:General notability guideline.
Looking at your article submission, all of the references you've provided (except for a youtube video) are either provided by the organisation itself, or provided by its partners and donors. These are not independent by Wikipedia's standards.
The content in the submission also currently seems very promotional; listing of foundational values largely copied from the organisation's own website, and so on. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 10:11, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Seeking some advice. Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Draft:Gold Coast Parklands was declined due to notability and referencing. I'm unsure of the next step. It's been an important sporting venue and public space in our City for years, but perhaps it's not a notable enough? A visit to the local library yielded additional resources as there was little available online. Perhaps that's the problem? Any suggestions most welcome. Thanks! Coastal.culture.vulture (talk) 06:58, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sources don't have to be online to be useful as references in proving notability. In fact, some reviewers would consider significant coverage in a reference book published by a large publishing house to be more use in proving notability than an ephemeral piece on an online news site.
Some ideas for changes:
  • At present anyone reading the article has to reach nearly the end of the third sentence before learning what Gold Coast Parklands is. This is why suggestions for article drafts often start "Gold Coast Parklands is a..."
  • Some of your references are bare URLs, and some are just a bare URL with a title. It can help to include more detail, for example author's name, date published, publishing organisation and so on. Using citation templates is one way to do this; see Wikipedia:Citation templates.
If Gold Coast Parklands remains as the venue for a significant part of the infrastructure for the 2018 games, then there's likely to be a steady stream of news articles between now and then. You can resubmit the draft using the blue resubmit button when you're ready. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 09:53, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have submitted this article twice (with a substantial number of changes between the first & second drafts). I am sure there are good reasons why the article is being rejected, however I don't understand what I need to do to resolve the issues. Some points which may be relevant:

  • An article on this subject had been requested before I became a Wikipedian.
  • I believe the article satisfies the following:
A musician or ensemble may be notable if it meets at least one of the following criteria:

5. Has released two or more albums on a major record label (Criteria for musicians and ensembles)

  • The producer of the albums, Rupert Hine is definitely notable, and this is some of his very fine work.
  • The band had some (small) success in the U.S. with their second album, which I am still trying to find reliable evidence for.

Like the reviewers, I don't want this article to be included if it is not ready. Whether the article is accepted, at a future date or not, I will be continuing the quest for better quality references. Any help with these problems would be greatly appreciated. Wrong article decline

The article Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/jEmbryoS was declined as not complaining with notability guidelines. But it completely resembles the situation with another article (jNode) , which was not declined and contains information about a system of the same class - the Java Operating System. No notability differences exist for two systems. Then here is the question - why the jEmbryoS article was declined ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alexbav4anystuff (talkcontribs) 10:32, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It is not there. Please help. And also please tell me specifically what is the copyrighted material I need to delete.

I responded to the comments of Anupmehra concerning the article "Ronald Aronson" by placing all references according to the system indicated in references for beginners as he stipulated, and then removed all references to other Wikipedia articles. The revised and resubmitted article was then read on March 1 but not accepted by Aggie80 because of "copyright violations." I wrote to him and asked him to be specific about copyright violations so that I might remove them.

While waiting for his response, I looked for the March 1 revised article. The comment by Aggie80 had included the following: "If you would like to continue working on the submission, you can find it at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Ronald Aronson." The URL was: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Ronald_Aronson&action=edit&redlink=1 So I went there following the instruction: "To edit the submission, click on the "Edit" tab at the top of the window." I did that, but all I could find was the message to me typed by Aggie80. And now, after emailing Aggie80 I find that there is no longer an "edit" tab any more. I cannot find the March 1 article anywhere. Can you help?Leninmartov (talk) 18:08, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Attempting to contribute to Wikipedia is quite simply a waste of time. Which is ok, but I won't ever use Wikipedia again either. The time to get in was how many years ago? 5, 10, 15? Y'all should be upfront with that, rather than encourage morons like me to waste my time here. Oh, do any of you have the slightest expertise in what I'm interested in? Of course not, so it can't be interesting to anybody, right?

I give up.

Hi there,

Can you let me know why this article was declined?

I work for the Production Company who created the show (and Moody Christmas) so all episode synopsis were actually written by us but perhaps the refs were not adhering to your policies??

I assume it is 'notable' as Moody christmas is up there and I tried to follow the format and tone of this entry.

Happy to make all the necessary adjustments to get it up.

Thanks in advance.

A minor note: I've changed the title and formatting of your question. I hope you don't mind.
The reasons for your article being declined can be found at the top of the article. In short, you should change the way you cite sources. Wikipedia allows for different ways of citing, but one way that should be avoided is simply providing a URL, which can lead to linkrot. Good citations include information such as the title, author, date, body of work (such as a website, newspaper, or magazine), and so on. The link that the reviewer provided is to the introduction to referencing, a good tutorial for learning how to cite sources. Anon126 (talk - contribs) 04:00, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Do we really reject submissions for references using bare URLs? Arthur goes shopping (talk) 09:18, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No, bare URL references should simply be fixed (use the Reflinks tool), it's not a legitimate decline reason. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 19:32, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This may not help you much, but apart from anything else, the wording is still way too promotional. Just picking out one section at random, we have "leading artistes", a "prestigious" orchestra, and a "foremost exponent" - none of these being justified as a direct quotation from an independent reliable source. Even if the content is trimmed to the point where it can be properly sourced, this promotional wording would need to be completely removed throughout. My article was not accepted due to the subject (composer/performer) being considered insufficiently notable. However, I believe the criteria for notability have been met:

1) The composer's works and recordings have been reviewed by numerous independent sources around Australia including major newspapers (Canberra Times), Australia's premiere music magazine (Limelight Magazine) and major online music media (Resonance magazine, AU Review and Sounds like Sydney).

2) The composer is represented by the Australian Music Centre - representation is reserved only for signficant Australian composers and can only be attained via a rigorous peer-review process.

3) The composer's work is featured on the websites of internationally reknown ensembles, orchestras and performers who have performed his work.

4) The composer has been a finalist for a major national composition prize.

5) The composer is the subject of scholarly work discussing his innovations and new approaches to Latin-American influenced classical music.

6) The composer is on staff at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, the largest tertiary music education institution in the country.

These seem to fulfil the criteria for notability several times over - if the criteria have still not been met, can you please clarify what additional information would be required to demonstrate notability?

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/South Dakota Wing Civil Air Patrol

I tried to submit this article but must have done it incorrectly as I received a no message. How should I go about it?

Article content
SOUTH DAKOTA WING CIVIL AIR PATROL

South Dakota Wing (abbreviated as SDWG) is the highest echelon of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) in the state of South Dakota. The wing headquarters is at the Rapid City Regional Airport in Rapid City, SD. SDWG reports to CAP’s North Central Region, which in turn reports to CAP National Headquarters at Maxwell AFB, Alabama.

The wing consists of squadrons, the basic unit of CAP. At present SDWG consists of three administrative squadrons and six “composite” squadrons that are composed of cadets (youth ages 12-18) and senior members (age 18 and up). SDWG is currently commanded by Colonel John Seten.

South Dakota Wing Patch

Structure

Below wing level are squadrons. SDWG has three administrative squadrons and six operational squadrons. The operational squadrons are at the local level of the CAP organization. They meet weekly to conduct CAP's three core missions and are on-call 24/7 to respond to requests for emergency assistance. In South Dakota Wing all six of the operational squadrons are “composite” squadrons in that they offer programs for both cadets and senior members.

Unit Nr. Name Location Meets On
SD000 Wing Holding Squadron N/A N/A
SD001 Headquarters Squadron N/A N/A
SD999 Wing Legislative Squadron Pierre N/A
SD031 Rushmore Composite Squadron Rapid City Mondays
SD038 Pierre Composite Squadron Pierre Tuesdays
SD050 Sioux Falls Composite Squadron Sioux Falls Thursdays
SD058 Big Sioux Composite Squadron Brookings Thursdays
SD063 Lookout Mountain Composite Squadron Spearfish Thursdays
SD068 Crazy Horse Composite Squadron Custer Thursdays

Missions

South Dakota Wing performs Civil Air Patrol's three congressionally mandated missions: Emergency Services, Aerospace Education and Cadet Programs.[1]

  • Emergency Services - SDWG supports Civil Air Patrol's Emergency Services missions by operating six CAP aircraft and 17 multi-purpose vehicles. SDWG takes part in aerial and ground-based search and rescue, disaster relief operations, humanitarian assistance, support to the South Dakota Air National Guard through low-level route surveys and counter-aerial intruder training, and aerial survey assistance to the state Department of Game Fish and Parks and South Dakota State University in their wildlife management programs.[2]
  • Aerospace Education - The Aerospace Education program ensures all SDWG members have an appreciation for and knowledge of aerospace issues. It provides general aerospace knowledge and focuses on advances in aviation, aerospace technology and space exploration. SDWG’s support for the AE mission also includes participation in local, state and national aviation events.[3]
  • Cadet Programs - While there are many youth oriented programs in America today, CAP's cadet program is unique in that it uses aviation as a cornerstone. SDWG offers the Cadet Program in all six of its squadrons across the state. The Cadet Program allows young people to progress at their own pace through a program including aerospace education, leadership training, physical fitness and character development. There is also an orientation flight program for the cadets.[4]

Cadet Encampment

Each year South Dakota Wing and North Dakota Wing jointly hold an encampment, usually a week to ten days in length. These encampments allow cadets to experience a semi-military lifestyle with instruction in discipline, teamwork and leadership. Other activities involve instruction in drill and ceremonies, customs and courtesies, basic CAP knowledge and military traditions. The Joint Dakotas encampment alternates between Camp Grafton near Devils Lake or Grand Forks AFB, both in North Dakota and Camp Rapid or Ellsworth AFB, both in South Dakota.

National Cadet Special Activities

National Cadet Special Activities are Cadet Programs conducted by Civil Air Patrol. NCSAs are designed to give cadets direct hands on experience with various aspects of the Civil Air Patrol program and provide meaningful insight into several aviation-related careers. There are about 30 different special activities that a cadet may attend. Each activity is approximately a week long, and all but two are offered during the summer. The variety of NCSAs offered by CAP gives cadets a diverse experience. Activities focus on career exploration, leadership development, search and rescue skills, aeronautical training, Air Force familiarization, government, and a variety of other topics.[5]

Scholarships

Civil Air Patrol members are also eligible for a wide variety of scholarships; academic scholarships, flight scholarships and school-specific scholarships.[6]

Hi, Back again seeking some advice. My latest article has been declined for notability and referencing. I took on board your excellent sugestions from an earlier submission decline for another article. I used a template provided by the National Library of Australia, used every available primary and secondary reference from the local library (newspaper articles from multiple sources, the historic newspaper itself and published books), linked to the digitised newspaper (now available online), referenced the national project that undertook the digitisation and included as much detail in the citations as I could. Really unsure what I can do further. Any advice to improve this article would be fantastic. Thanks! Coastal.culture.vulture (talk) 21:13, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I assume you are referring to Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/List of celebrities who lost a guardian at a young age. (I've updated the section title.) You can see the introduction to referencing for help on how to cite sources. But 78.26 also states in his decline reason that this list may not be fit for an encyclopedia, and that it would be difficult to determine who would go in this list. I unfortunately have to agree with these points. Anon126 (talk - contribs) 21:59, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The intersection of celebrity and young orphanhood seems to me to be arbitrary and even random. There doesn't appear to be any logical connection between the two concepts. The Notability rule requires that you show, by citation, that multiple independent sources have discussed the topic in depth. Sorry but you'll have to find a more suitable topic for your first article. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 07:01, 5 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

(BulgerGallery (talk) 22:14, 4 March 2014 (UTC))[reply]

@BulgerGallery: You mean User:BulgerGallery/sandbox/Sarah_Anne_Johnson? It was declined because the sourcing was inadequate - see the message at the top of the article. I think the reviewer possibly had doubts about whther Johnson was notable enough for a Wikipedia write up. there's little proof of significant coverage in reliable independent sources.
Judging by your user name, I would worry that you are motivated purely to advertise your gallery and your 'product'. You seem to have a conflict of interest that would raise people's suspicions. At the moment the article reads like an artist's CV, particularly with the long list of 'selected' exhibitions. We don't need these long lists, we need to know why she is important and what aspects of her/her work have received significant critical attention.Sionk (talk) 22:49, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have added categories to this article called Derek Richter. His first name is Derek Last name Richter

But when I go to refresh the actual category pages he is listed always under "D" rather than "R". I must have done something or missed out on doing something crucial. I am trying to solve it myself and I am sure I will eventually, but if anyone can shed a light...

Question regarding rejection of new post "Canadian Association for Equality"

Hi there,

My new submission was rejected, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Canadian Association for Equality

This is the reason given: This submission's references do not adequately evidence the subject's notability—see the guidelines on the notability of organizations and companies and the golden rule. Please improve the submission's referencing, so that the information is verifiable, and there is clear evidence of why the subject is notable and worthy of inclusion in an encyclopedia.

However, the submission included references to a variety of mainstream media reports on the organization from major Canadian news outlets: Sun News Network, National Post, MacLeans magazine, Toronto Sun, City News Toronto, and Huffington Post Canada. These articles are featuring the organization and its programs. I do not understand how the post fails to conform to the requirement for notability, namely that "an organization is generally considered notable if it has been the subject of significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources." Please help. Thank you, JimSmith123 (talk) 21:19, 5 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @JimSmith123: Welcome to the Articles for Creation Help desk. You submission was declined because the subject (Canadian Association for Equality) didn't appear notable to the reviewer. Following your concerns, I've re-analyzed the sources and found that many of them are either dead link or YouTube videos. YouTube is not considered a reliable source. There are few sources that does mention "Canadian Association for Equality" but only once. This is not substantial. We need "significant coverage" in the secondary, independent and reliable sources to estblish notability. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 21:55, 5 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the clarification. I have now removed the youtube videos and updated the dead links. In addition, I have added a number of new media reports on the organization from mainstream media sources including CBC, the National Post, Huffington Post Canada, USA Today, Yahoo! News Canada, MacLeans Magazine, Toronto Star and the Globe and Mail. I added a new section reporting on the organization's more recent campaign to establish a Toronto men's centre which was the focus of significant coverage. The organization motivated an entire episode of TV Ontario's The Agenda focused on men's issues. The Agenda is a major current affairs program. The organization's programs are a major component of the current wikipedia entry on the University of Toronto Student Union. Could you please review these new sources and let me know if this still doesn't qualify as notable.

I've just found out (2014 Mar 05) that my submission of an article describing Philip Latham's novel Five Against Venus has not been accepted for posting on Wikipedia. Can someone tell me what I did wrong or what I left out?Kanawishi (talk) 01:04, 6 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You had provided no references: there are issues with verifiability.
Additionally, the only relationship of the article subject with outside world lies in the "has become something of a science-fiction icon" phrase, which is insufficient.
What to do? To be verifiable, you should gather a lot of references independent from the subject — preferably those another entity initiated itself — and put effort into processing them and pulling information from them into the article to have it focus on such relationship with the plot summary being secondary. Hi. Web search results may be biased (against your prior web search history); one may use Startpage to verify. However, your observation is correct. A web search of a quote from the article suggests it's already crawled. So I would give it approximately a week to walk its way into the infobox. Help!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/SARA_JAY

I am fairly new to Wikipedia, not trying to do anything outrageous. Sara Jay is one of the best known stars in Adult and in the Hall of Fame. The references ARE independent... iafd, avn etc. What am I doing wrong? There are plenty of other adult stars with pages on Wikipedia.

Thanks for any help!! Ilovepitts (talk) 18:17, 6 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Ilovepitts: Welcome to the Articles for Creation Help desk. Your submission was declined because the subject (Sara Jay} appears to be non-notable as there are no significant coverage shown in the wp:secondary, wp:independent and wp:reliable sources. See, WP:BIO for the detailed guideline. Regards, Anupmehra -Let's talk! 18:36, 6 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

March 7

Hello, Being new to wikipedia, I wanted to ask advice on how to reference correctly the articles I'm submitting. My aim would be - over time - to updated the English language wikipedia (although I'm not a native English speaker) with reference of the historic Japanese animation series of the '70s '80s and '90s. They are all present in the Japanese wiki, some on the Italian french and Spanish wikipedia pages. Given their age, these series have little online references (some are on imdb, some on Japanese sites, some Italian, a few French), a few books. I create three test pages for a number of animation series:

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Grikon

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Mu_no_Hakugei

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Uchuu_Kubo_Blue_Noah

In the first case there is some info in japanese and on a few reference books. In the second case I tried to add some additional info and is currently waiting to be re-checked. The third is the one with least info. I would appreciate any help and suggestions on how to proceed, thanks a lot in advance

Hello @Tsudzuraori: Welcome to the Articles for Creation Help desk. I just visited the all three submission page created by you. I noticed all three submissions are declined for not satisying Wikipedia notability standard. You are requested to review the notability guideline and make changes accordingly. If I have to say one line in order to make all above your three submission in compliance with Wikipedia policy and guidelines, I would suggest you to find wp:secondary, wp:independent and wp:reliable sources that discuss the subject in detail. In regarding to help with referencing, I guess you already knew how to cite sources in the body of the article. However you can visit, WP:REFB for the detailed guideline. Thank you. Hi there,

I had an article decline https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/David_Vitek and was given the below feedback from a very helpful person at wiki chat. Was wondering if you can have a look at the bolded points that we would like to contest? Based on these comments, do you think this would change that these references could be used?

Understand if not.... Just wanted to see if we could justify them.

Reference 1 is a name drop. Reference 2 is a public relations piece. - This is an interview with independent journalist for leading online magazine profiling Australian SMEs, not PR. Reference 3 is a YouTube cite. For TV or radio programmes, you cite the actual programme, not an online copy. (We do accept offline cites.) Reference 4 is good. (The only issue with it is you have 4-5 entries identical to it in the reference list.) Reference 5 is an interview with the subject - This is an interview with one of Australia’s leading business magazines (BRW) Reference 7 is a name-drop, and is more about the company than the subject. - This establishes that DV came up with the concept for the business, chairs a global business that is recognized by his independent in his sector. Reference 10 is good. Reference 11 is a press release and is unusable. - It's also one of the subject's businesses, and unusable on that basis as well. Reference 12 is more about the company than the subject. - As CEO DV has presided over the growth of the company. Reference 13 is more about the company than the subject, and is a press release. Reference 14 is more about the company than the subject, and is a press release. Reference 15 is malformed (Its URL is the same as Reference 14's.) (although even with fixed link might be same issue as all of them)- DV is mentioned & here is the correct link:http://www.brw.com.au/p/business/hipages_DX62oMCY7juhHMXfTOX4aO Reference 17 doesn't seem to mention the guy or his company.- It does, entry number 46: hipages.com.au, CEO David Vitek Reference 18 is a company profile and thus not about the subject. - Subject is quoted. Reference 18 is a YouTube cite. Again, cite the actual programme. This is a duplicate entry on the reviewers part. Reference 19 is a name drop wed in unholy matrimony with a YouTube cite. Reference 20 is another video cite of what seems to be the same SKY News programme. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hallkelly00 (talkcontribs) 04:51, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I don't not understand why the independent publications references used on my article submission are not considered suitable. Please can you advise?Neo PR Ltd (talk) 11:00, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I can see, the only page you have created with this account is Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/New Net Technologies, which lists no references at all. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 11:18, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It seems that it has been more than 4 weeks since submitting this article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Steve_%28S.G.%29_Sinnicks It shows as "Not submitted" still - though it looks like it is in the queue.

Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance...

Can I create a Wikipedia page about myself? I am a professional magician but very little details is available on the web about me outside of my web page.Merlin1949 (talk) 16:27, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Creating a Wikipedia article about yourself is strongly discouraged, see Wikipedia:Autobiography. In addition, if there does not exist significant coverage about you in independent reliable sources (either on the web or offline, but not your own web page), then you will not meet the notability requirement for people, Wikipedia:Notability (people). (There's a simpler summary of the general notability guideline at Wikipedia:VRS.) Arthur goes shopping (talk) 16:33, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I've been trying to get this page up for a while now but it has been declined again because "This submission's references do not adequately evidence the subject's notability" but I have several references to books on the subject. I'm really just wondering if it is something I can fix with more/better/different references, if there is something more specifically I need to change, or if he really isn't notable :( Any input from an editor would be super helpful.
