This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Ssd (talk | contribs) at 05:29, 12 July 2004 (most details of BSD FFS will be put into UFS very soon, this article probably won't need to expand much unless someone wants to detail what is in UFS that is not in FFS). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

The Berkeley Fast File System (or FFS) is a file system used mostly by Unix operating systems. It is an optimization to the original filesystem used by Unix System V (called just 'FS') and has evolved into UFS which is used by most Unix derrivatives today.

See also UFS for additional details.
