Oath's square

Zikkim (in Hebrew בסיס "זיקים" בה"ד 4) is a training base of the Israeli Defence Forces. Zikkim, located 8 kms southward Ashqelon, was named after a nearby kibbutz Zikim. Newly recruits pass here training drills, so-called tironut, which comes in many difficulty levels, each corps or major unit having their own training program. After the tironut, a recruit is certified as a rifleman of a level that depends on the training program - starting with Rifleman 01 and up.

Structure and board

The base comprises 10 units for any kinds of troops. There is a special unit for commander training (קורס מפקדים) and officer course. Female commanders are dominant in base board. Quantity of recruits varies from 250 to 2,000.
