When you can measure what you are speaking about and express it in numbers, you know something about it”. —- Lord Kelvin
Human endeavor is a direct outcome of mans’ curiosity to learn and understand the environment in which he lives and his achievements in any field bear witness to the lives and applications of his imagination and skill. Engineering is concerned with understanding and controlling the materials and forces of nature for the benefit of human kind. So, instrumentation engineers are concerned with understanding and controlling segment of their environment to provide useful economic products for society. Fortunate engineer has the opportunity to control many very useful and interesting industrial automation systems. Accuracy of control of above physical quantities cannot be achieved unless these are measured with a high degree of accuracy.
Electrical energy is an essential ingredient for the industrial and all around development of any country. It is a coveted form of energy, being generated centrally in bulk and transmitted economically over long distances. Further, it can be adapted easily and efficiently to domestic and industrial applications. In recent times, the importance of technical education, in general and people all over the world, in particular, have recognized training in specific areas; India is no exception to this. The Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India, has focused Instrumentation Engineering as an area that needs special emphasis. Instrumentation may be defined as The art and science of measurement and control. It involves the use of and/or works with instruments, which range from simple mechanical float level controls to complex computer-based rocket guidance systems.
Electrical and Instrumentation is becoming increasingly interdisciplinary in nature. With the addition of electronics, which fully transformed former electrical circuitry and made better, smaller, more convenient devices possible, this new area of knowledge had to be mastered by the Instrumentation and Control Engineer. Now a days, Computer Technology has become intimate part of Instrumentation and Control system engineering. Instrumentation Engineers are responsible for the design, construction and maintenance of instruments and entire instrumentation systems, which are considered the eyes and ears of any industry.
At present, Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering department is poised to impart technical education related to the development of manpower, from the level of skilled workers to the engineering post-graduates. The department caters to the manpower and technical requirements of various sophisticated and household industries such as petro-chemical, fertilizer, cement, power generation stations, bio-medical industries, etc. The department is in the process of undertaking several projects from various Government funding agencies like MHRD, DST, etc. Moreover, the department is also planning to initiate industry-institute interaction to share various resources and to provide consultancy services by organizing joint seminars, workshops and short term training programmes. The department is running the Post-graduate M.Tech Course with specialization in Instrumentation and Control Engineering.
Department of Food Engineering & Technology

The department is regularly organizing conferences/symposium and AICTE sponsored STTP courses.
Department of Chemistry
The aim of the department is to provide quality education to the youngsters so that they can contribute in the development of the nation. We not only aim on theoretical knowledge but also provide the students, exposure to the developing society so that they can build their future in a better way.
An understanding of chemical principles is crucial in numerous fields and areas where natural phenomena must be understood and controlled at the fundamental molecular level. Chemistry is a vibrant science of its own and often times also serves as the “central science”, or core molecular science, that currently drives important advances in many other disciplines (e.g. biology, materials science). Students taking course in Chemistry are well prepared to go on in technical education of an Indian University. The Department offers courses to about 800 students each year.
Besides teaching, faculty have active, funded programs that stretch this traditional structure to cover an exciting array of interdisciplinary research areas including the synthesis and characterization of novel materials, nanostructures, supramolecular structures, environmental science and molecular modeling. Active collaborations between research groups in this department and other departments enrich the research opportunities of our Ph. D. students.
We are excited about the growing research opportunities being pursued by our faculty and hope that you can visit us to personally to see if this is where you want to be.
Departmant of Mathematics
As are the crests on heads of peacocks, As are the gems on the hoods of cobras, So is the mathematics, at the top of all sciences. Mathematics is the backbone of engineering. Major objective of the department is that every student becomes familiar with mathematical thinking. He should be able to recognize the guiding principles and ideas ‘behind the scenes’. The students must get the impression that Mathematics is a science of practical importance. The contents and character of Mathematics needed in applications keep on changing with the time. Therefore courses have been planned according to the frequency of occurrence in practical applications. For instance topics like, Matrices, Complex Analysis, Differential Equations, Statistics and Real Analysis are fundamental and would remain indispensable. Study of Numerical Analysis is essential in technological applications due to invent of high-speed digital computers. Now a day’s optimization is a key word for an engineer, therefore the department also offers a course on Operations Research.
Department of Mathematics plays very important role especially in Engineering Institute in building the real technocrats. Hence the curriculum of the department is designed to make the students more adaptable to the technical knowledge. The department has the strength of ten faculty members having specialization in various field of mathematics like Complex analysis, Operator Theory, Operationsl research, Fluid mechanics, Statistics, Mathematical Modeling, History of mathematics, Numerical analysis, Cosmology & Relativity Theory.
