The BODE index stands for body-mass index, airflow obstruction, dyspnea, and exercise is a grading system or capacity index for those with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The index uses four factors for predicting the risk of death from the disease.

Lung transplantation

The scale is used to determine eligibility for lung transplantation with this option typically only available to those with a score of seven to ten.[1]
